Irritating and can't be that hard to fix.

Maybe you should stop moaning and read the threads that discuss this
yes it happens but you can delete the second post

It's not, click edit then delete on your second one. You're welcome!

Fuck I'm a mod here and even I don't read every thread. It is annoying, and it should be an easy fix.

Easily fixed. Don't click the submit button twice.

Ha, if only it was that easy. Definitely only a 'one-click' issue.

Moderators Note:

I've moved the drivel out of this thread, leave the personal crap off the forums thanks.

It's a known vBulletin bug. Nothing I can do about it until they solve the problem.

Easily fixed. Don't click the submit button twice.I would never complain if it were simply operator error. I haven't been looking for other threads on the topic, but as far as I can see we went from one version that was fine to another that isn't, and they charged you for the privlege. It's not a big enough thing for me to go looking for those other threads, but I assume they have a patch in the pipeline for you?

/edit: Ah yup, post above makes sense, chur

Taz

It's not really a problem at all to 99% of us. Keep up the good work.

I rarely had the problem since the big upgrade early this year but since the recent (last week?) patch it's been every fucking post. :angry2:

Everything is normal here in the software world. Nothing to see here. Move along now.

I've turned off PHP caching to see if that fixes it. Let me know if it's still a problem.

I always get a giggle about someone moaning on KB about how someone else is moaning on KB

I'm using chrome on a mac and the double post warning has been showing up for the past 24hrs. Only started then.

i'm using firefox, have just discovered that it still doubles when i hit 'reply' or 'reply with quote' but not the 'reply to thread' button

SpankMe
14th July 2010, 13:42
I think it just a problem with the Quick Reply. I might try disabling it.

I'm using safari, and it's gone from being an issue to not being an issue back to being an issue again. Mostly happens through the "you must wait 10 seconds before posting again", and I'm like, what, I haven't even posted yet! So maybe I'm just being trigger happy about hitting the post button (mistakenly thinking that my first one hasn't been recognised).

In any event, I've become adept at "edit delete" now!

imdying
14th July 2010, 13:44
Yup, definitely happens with Firefox. That change 24 hours odd ago has brought new PHP error messages on the "thanks for your post I'll take you back to the thread" screen if it helps.

Waking up with a hang-over and an uneasy feeling in the back of my mind taught me that one too.

:whistle:Top tip: Edit the post, fill it with random crap, save it, then go back and delete it. Otherwise your deleted posts can be read anyway (just not by the great unwashed).

Far too late for that if the post concerned has been quoted in its original form though

Oh yeah, you're well sunk if that happens

Two aspirin in a tall glass of water before bed, that'll ensure you can get up early enough after your binge to fix those little 'moments'...

Gaaaaah! Who put the hoodoo juju eye on me? This fricken double post thing has happened on almost all the posts I've made today.

Turned of PHP caching last night to see if it helped. Guess not. Will turn it back on tonight.
