Decided that I don't ride it enough and it seems a waste of a sweet bike to only take it out for the daily commute, so it's time to say goodbye and let someone else enjoy.
I have owned it since new and anyone who knows me knows that it has been very well cared for and loved, I don't thrash things or do wheelies etc. For the last 6 months my husband has been commuting on it and he parks it on the street while he's at work, but aside from that it has always been garaged.
I laid it down very gently in the garage one day and it got a wee scratch on the engine cover when I picked it up and hubby laid it down at basically a standstill one morning, which resulted in a small scratch on the tail piece.
It has been regularly serviced both by ourselves and Wellington Motorcycles. It will need new tyres for the next WOF due in February but there's still enough rubber to get through till then fine. Currently it has Continental Road Attacks on it (which I can highly recommend). I had one of the fork seals replaced in February during its service and new chain and sprockets fitted. The front sprocket is one tooth smaller than what comes stock on the Hornet and it certainly makes a difference in acceleration!

This bike would be perfect for a shorter rider. I'm about 5"6 and found the stock Hornet difficult to manage on tip toes so had this one lowered for me when I bought it. This was done by Robert Taylor who fitted an Ohlins rear shock in it and dropped the front through the forks. Not only has this lowered the bike by a few inches, it has also made the bike noticeably more stable on the road, especially over very bumpy ground, making it generally more comfortable to ride. The stand has also been shortened. I also had a Rider seat custom made that lowered the seat height and slightly narrowed the seat width making it easier to get feet on the ground and also improved the comfort with different foam.

Loads of extras including:
Ohlins rear shock
Power Commander - dyno tuned for
Twin Cycleworks exhausts
Rider seat
Oggy Knobs
Renthal ultra low bars
Pazzoracing short levers
Rizoma mirrors
Rizoma grips and bar ends
Pack rack
Headlight cover
Small windscreen
Grab handle covers
Clear tail light
Small indicators front and rear

I have receipts for most of these extras as well as dyno and servicing reports.

I know, 'tis sad times. I took it for a wee ride yesterday and came back wondering if I really should, but alas the time has come :(

That is a really nicely done up Hornet. Price pretty good too with all that fruit. Were you happy with the stock forks, or have they got Gold valves as well? (in that when I had mine I had the Ohlins shock and the gold valves).

I'm just looking at a photo of me on a trackday on mine, I look just like Freddie Spencer circa about 1981 on one of those factory Superbikes (well thats what I'm telling myeslf).... perhaps its time for another black Hornet????

I'd love to have got Ohlins all round, but alas I'd already spent wayyyyyy too much on blingy bits etc to justify more $$$, so it has the stock forks.... I can only imagine how amazing Ohlins front bits would be
They go surprisingly well on the track eh, in fact they do everything rather well, reason I HAD to have it in the first place (as well as naked and black is sexy!!) ;)

Whoever buys this bike will get one hell of a bargain. Also, they'll have their butt massaged from ride to ride thanks to the Rider custom seat. I had one on my hornet and ohhhh baby was it good!

:gob: Say it ain't so! Took a gremlin whispering scurrilous things in my ear to know about this! :thud:

Ah well, I know you given her a lot of love and you enjoyed her ... I guess you both feel that she needs to be ridden and enjoyed by another rider now :weep:

'Tis a passing of an era for the Kendogs when it finally leaves for a new gargre!

Ahh once a Hornet lover always a Hornet lover eh.
It will be a sad day indeed when my baby goes up our driveway for the last time, but it does seem such a waste of a wicked bike to be used as a commuter and garage filler. :(
