VFR800 06-09 aftermarket exhaust.

Wondering if anyone out there has an aftermarket exhaust for a VFR800 06 onwards? Needs to have a removable silencer, so preferably Scorpion, Staintune, Leo Vince, etc.

Just did a core job on mine, sounds great, looks original. Got a spare set here if you want, way cheaper than after-market....

Hey mate, how loud is it? I'm looking for only slightly louder but with a deeper growl. Was it a relatively easy gutting?
How much would you be thinking for the spare set?

C'mon, zeocen; do it properly and save up some pennies for a good aftermarket pair. An option you may not have considered is getting Motorcycle Exhaust Specialists ('Zorsts') to make some - will probably be cheaper'n imported ones. BTW - as far as I know, the '02 to '09 are all the same.

I've got a Staintune high-mount. It's an excellent quality exhaust, but to be honest, I don't believe it sounds as good as some of the other brands, like Remus, Micron, Scorpion, Leo Vince, etc. The can volume's smaller than other brands, so it's slightly higher-pitched. However, unlike most other brands, it never needs repacking.
I've got two restrictors for it: a 'stealth' mode one, which is about as quiet as the OEM (Sankei) muffler, and a shortened one, which is a bit louder. Plus I occasionally run it with no restrictor (till it gets on my wick...)

Gut out the stock cans. Replace internal core with perforated pipe up to the outlets. Keeps it just under db requirements and deepens tone. Will make it sound niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiice.

Now there's a thought, if aftermarket ones are too expensive, but do it with a spare set of stock cans, in case you run into trouble at WOF time (especially if you cut out the catcon, and the tester notices - that's a fail right away.


Where abouts did you buy your staintunes from viffer? They sound exactly like what I want.
Mine's an '01 - it's got one (1) muffler, gear-driven cams, and no Vtec. I tested a 6th Gen ('02 and later) and an '01, and decided I prefered the '01.
The Staintune was on it when I bought it, as were heated grips. That and the colour (not normal for NZ VFRs, but the same as Blackbirds) were deciding factors.

Still reckon you're better off gutting the standard pipes. All that money you save is better off going on Ohlins shock and front end valve job. The Ohlins transformed the bike, and actually makes a big difference on the road, the noise thing is more for your Ponsonby Rd riders.
