I guess it's probably too late, but take care on Newlands Road, and the Gorge this morning. The roading boys have been putting grit down on Newlands Road form the BP station to the motorway on ramp, and it's pretty icy off line.

It's ok if you take it easy, but it was still a bit slippery at 6.45 this morning.

I tried riding to work from Ruskin Road down Salford Street, didn't even make it to Newlands road due to all the ice.
Slid over on the first corner, a couple of corners after that a car and trailer had jack-knifed and crashed, a couple of corners after that a van had stopped and was warning people about the next few corners. Chaos :gob:

Got up this morning and was keen as beans to take my bike into work. But looked outside and knew that it just wasn't an option. Sure enough, driving my car down my road, I hit black ice - in a spot where it have never been before. Just about completely lost control and went veeeeery close to the edge of the clif. Phew - that was a lucky break! If I was on the bike it would have been a different story I'm sure. Every corner from there on was iced up, never seen the road like it before.

Safe riding home everyone too tonight - out my way the ice had already frozen over by dark on the ground.

Yeah, been riding down this hill for more than six years and have never seen ice where I hit it today.

They didn't grit Horokiwi Road West or Colchester Cres in Newlands where I live. The Guzzi was sideways more than once this morning!!
Had the people at the bus-stop shaking their heads at me !!

And God has been putting shingle on the south coast road by Te Raekaihau Point - nice little surprise on a dark night!

Yeah Normandale rd had a bunch of Ice, never seen it like that before. Damn global warming. Got a warning txt from the missus, she'd seen 2 accidents on a small section of road. When I came down (in the van Waa) there was a little green Ninja parked up on the grass, presumably some poor chap or chappess had a whoopsie. No rider in sight, hope yer ok buddy.

Used to live in colchester, don't remember ever seeing ice on it or Horokiwi although the lower reaches of newlands Rd where always fair game for ice.

My bloody driveway was iced up this morning. And I'm 100m from the beach up the coast.

Stepped out of the house, took one look at the driveway and decided on taking the car.

You could loose your coaster badge for that. Need some HTFU pills. I didn't see any ice from Raumati until I got to the Ngauranga Gorge. It's always better up the coast

OK, I was about to make some smart arsed comment about pussy riders, But decided I'd own up to the fact that I took the 4WD to work yesterday and left the bike at home. :weep: -8C was even to cold for me.

Took the bike today though, it was a nice balmy -2, and nice glistening ice. :scooter: :scooter:

That's where cagers are our friends. Their lovely tyres carving a clean line for us.

I've lived in this particular Johnsonville street for only 4 years, but first time I've seen ice from one side to the other. I just clenched cheeks and rode through. Mr. Michelin saw me right.

I used to be a mainlander (cantab). I've realised living in Wellington is making me soft, unfortunately.
