rgv 250 prices

this summer i plan on purchasing a rgv 250.i thought about getting a 4stroke 250 but decided against it as im ready for a 'bigger' bike (performance wise), and a 4stroke wont be that much of a step up as my bike keeps up with most 4 strokes in my price range anyway.theres a few 4 sale on trademe

the buy now prices are about 2500-2800..one has a recond engine and the other one looks like its about due for a rebuild.one needs a respray.. looks like its been spray bombed with cans..but my old mans a spray painter so that wouldnt be to hard to fix..just the issue how badly it had been crashed/dropped.

anywho.. do these prices seem reasonable or a little cheap?

70hp sounds pretty rich, especially from a pre 91 model which only have two stage powervalves, would certainly want to check out the guys dyno sheet for that because they come standard at about 45hp from memory whereas the 91 is 62hp.

Good luck with that anyway mate, they can be a hell of a lot of fun so long as you know what you are looking for and you are aware of the fact that every single RGV has been thrashed and you are not necissarily going to get a "nice" bike but a cool and quick one.

Can the 91+ models be deristricted?

I'm also looking but haven't got much chance getting one yet

I'm de-restricting mine at the moment, the bills around the $600 mark so far, probably needs a rebuild too :(

Original TZRs were 45hp. First RGVs about 50hp & the Banana arms 53hp. Of course they claimed heaps more in the brochure & different dynos measure differently, but the above is what most mags used to measure.

Jap F3 (their class for RGVs KR1s etc) bikes were tuneable up to 70hp apparently but that was entire racekit, zillion dollars & rebuild every race sort of stuff.

Good fun bikes - you'll be one of the better riders in the country by the time you find it's cornering limits - so loads of potential with them. 70 rw HP would not be a reliable road bike unless and expert has looked after it and tuned it - either way it would require a lot of maintenance. I doubt it has that much being only a road bike as a road bike tuned to that limit would be a pain to look after. My race bike has 60 which is fine.
