Just had to share. I'm a total newbie just gettin into riding bikes and loving it.:2thumbsup I can now understand the freedom enjoyed by those who get on and just ride.:scooter: Wish I knew about them years ago instead of spending thousands of hours training horses for dressage and showing.. the buzz on a bike is so much better.:Punk:
I'm pleased people can't see the huge smile on my face as I get out on the road on my bike, they would probably wonder what mischief I was up to:innocent:

best bet is to just draw a big smile on your helmet. How was the first time you got on and rode her?

The first ride was unbelieveable, and every ride since has been just as magic. I even went out in the drizzle, on slippery roads(wet, grit and cow poo) today just to get my biking fix. It had been 3 days since I'd been out to due to work.

Just like the first time you rode your horse, and every ride after that..

Only been on a horse once. Was at a friends place and she had this stable with horses. She put a saddle on and my mate went for a ride. He came back wetting him self from excitment, so I figured it must be cool.
Took the horse down a small road that went in to the forest. I was humping away and wondered (like you do) how fast this thing can go. I had seen enuf of cowboy movies to know that full throttle was achieved by kicking the heels in to its sides. So I did that. The thing took off and I held on. Still was nothing compared to a bike, but it was OK. The small road came to a corner and I did what I normally do: lean in to the corner... but this thing did not care. It went straight in to the forest. I had branches smashin in to my head, chest and other places... I managed to get the thing to slow down enough so I could jump off. I walked the thingy back and that was my horse riding carrier. Stoopid thing!

I never get bored of it.
I never mind commuting to work.
I never run out of interesting things to read about it.
I never run out of interesting people to meet
.... I also hope I never run out of fuel!

Riding bikes with upright seating position is not a lot different to riding a horse, except that you cant back em up so well but you can start, park them up, feed and shut them down a whole lot quicker! :ride: Enjoy!

My friend was really into horses but has swapped it for riding enduro bikes. At least with a bike you can dump it in the garage and ignore it until the next time you want to ride.
Plus a bike doesn't have a mind of it's own - my horse had a habit of dumping me and running home!

Hello Orsem, I think most if not all riders will agree that riding your bike will only ever get better as the years go by.:wari:

Next mission will be a dirt bike, as there is a MX/bike track on the farm and another just up the road. These bikes are so addictive, I thought horses were bad(I had 14 horses at one time), but I can see bikes are more addictive.
Atleast soon I will get to ride every day on the farm, then head out on the cruiser as time permits, days off etc... And if I get a dirt bike, it will be fun in the mud/dust after work:wari:

My best horse I trained up felt compelled to try and throw me at the judges car during dressage tests if the test was too easy, but would behave like an angel if it was a real hard test, and she would buck and pig root like an arse in rider classes at shows, only to come back and win the paced and mannered a few classes later. Should've known she had character as the first week I owned her she threw me off 4 times.
Pleased to say the new bike has character too, but hasn't thrown me yet

LOL!!! My last ride on a horse wasn't the best day I'd had either... :bye: At least on the bike I can steer it where I want to go and stop it when I want to stop, and when I let the clutch out it moves forward... :scooter:

Welcome to biking Orsem. Stay safe and keep on enjoying.
I ride nearly everyday - not too much that can beat that feeling.
