Round 3
I was planning for a crash free weekend…. My bikes engine was still spread across the garage floor on Saturday morning meaning I was going to be racing Ryan’s RG since he had his 400. The weather was looking a lot better than the news forecasted for with a fair bit of blue sky’s so it was looking to a dry day. I was a little confused as in briefing they said the Friday went great with no oil spills or anything… although before anyone had been out on the track they dumped loads of lime although the first corner (Toyota) leaving pretty much only one line.
Qualify was interesting with all the lime and the cold track. I was also a little nervous about being on Ryan’s bike. It was actually running great compared to my own and had so much more power and was sticking to the track much better. I qualified 9th in the three classes and 6th in the 150’s. Luckily everyone had a rather slow time which was odd but I’m glad it wasn’t just me…
Race 1
I had a great start and pull up to the front of the pack into turn one. It was rather difficult to get through turn one with so many bikes all trying to take that one patch of track without lime but I made it through in 5th place. I was holding up with the front runners for a while until they ran off ahead. Nearing the end of the race I was catching up to 2nd place for 150’s and if there had been another lap or two I would have been very close to passing him. So I finished the in 3rd place which I was rather pleased with considering my season so far...
Race 2
I had quite a messy start which wasn’t necessarily bad but it wasn’t as good as the first race. This whole race I had David Croft on my tail until he gave himself a scary of nearly t-boning me which apparently I didn’t notice, but he backed off. I finish the race in 4th this time.
Race 3
This was my best race of the day and I had the most fun. I was running in 3rd place for the 150’s. Ben Oxnam on his 250 was right in front of me for the first couple of laps and I was giving him a really hard time passing him then he would get me back. I finally got past him on the 3rd lap and held him off until the 2nd to last turn on the last lap where I missed a gear and went through in 5th not 4th so I couldn’t get out of the corner very fast. Alan Denovan past me on the exit on his 250, the Ryan Hammond followed close behind. Last corner I went down one too many gears and had no power through the turn and Ben Oxnam just past me out of the turn. I still finished in 3rd but was slightly disappointed that I had mucked up and not held them off...
I had a great day and was absolutely stoked with 3rd place for the day... but im still right down in the series points... meh
Thanks Ryan for the use of your bike!!
