We're not girls right:blink: Your a fat fucker like me so you'll need a 2XL mate.
I'm normally a XL but both my Rally cross jackets and pants were/are 2xl. Onto second jacket as first was cut off when I broke my neck. I've only ever had the 2 generation old non removable arm versions but they are good jackets for summer riding - good cooling. Need a water proof jacket over as a wind resistant layer in winter.
Padmei

why the F would you want to remove the arms?
I can never get over the pics of guys riding round with a jacket & bare arms. Not into ATGATT but not much use really for protection.

Range, sizing, PRICE with or without GST....Shipping etc.....There is still some great bargains to be had overseas, even when you factor in shipping and exchange rate....:shit:
NordieBoy

why the F would you want to remove the arms?
For when you're riding without a jacket and it's a bit cold you put on the vest bit but it's not cold enough for the full jacket.
thepom
22nd July 2010, 06:15
Do,nt really need an armless jacket I think ...do they leak much and why no good windproofing?
Peril
22nd July 2010, 07:17
That's the model I have Kenny.
On a really cold day, with the liner in,you feel pretty much nothing. But on a more technical adv ride or a trail ride, you cook when the liner is in.Take it out and you get cold (remember our trip down the Tram road in the fog?) in anything under 18 degrees as a lot of the jacket is mesh.
So as per Ryan's advice,a light weight over jacket might be the go for cooler days.

If you are wearing your armour shirt, the jacket is purely temperature control.
As above, with pockets to cram stuff into, which your average MX/enduro jersey don't have.
Did you notice most of the guys riding at Romaniacs in the rain, mud etc were only wearing MX jersey, some with vest jackets. They're all too ballsy to worry about protection!

Nice. The other option that might work are cycle shorts under your pants. You know the ones the lycra clad bi-cyclists wear. I used to have some, I am going to try and find them and see if they help. Course the good ones are about the same price as that gel seat cover.

1993 GS 800 on Trademe...
http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=332219290
Looks like a simple repair and re-vin although you may be in for discs to re-vin, I thought my $2.00 bid had it for a nano second...........
If it gets near $2k I suspect it's not worth it as I would have thought $4k was a fair price for a good condition example, I can have a look at it if anyone is seriously interested.

Yes the 800 went through to about 94 or something, Phreaky Phils is an 800. Get rid of the abomination of a fairing and put a light on the front and it would look ok.

Accurate advertsing eh?
I thought $2k was a reasonable limit as it will cost about $1k to get re-vinned, plated & registered and that leaves about $1 to 1.5k to play with. There is always risk with a damaged bike, there will always be something you don't see and you have no history of it's servicing.
What do you think it's worth on todays market in average condition?

That was likely an okay buy as long as you weren't focussed on putting it back to stock. I've replaced / am replacing all of that stuff. Looked like the bike had been cared for. Ddidn't agreed to the accessorising, but doesn't mean that someone hadn't put a lot of time & love into it.

I still think it was way too much (but I am a tight arse like that) given there are two 100PDs for sale for around $5k. I've repaired write offs before and there is usually a heap of hidden damage or not working stuff that you only find when you get it home.
I hope it's repaired and proves a good ride for the new owner but I don't think it was a good buy.

The bead buddy helps keep the tyre bead, (the edge of the tyre that fits snug against the rim edge), in towards the centre of the rim, (where there is a groove) so tyre is easier to peel off/onto the rim.
It's one of those tools that I have, rarely use, (as a tyre lever positioned in the right place does exactly the same job), but has a clever little scollop cut out of it so you can lock it place via a spoke.

I have one. Personally I would not bother again. Very cool idea, and works very well, but my one did not last. Too fiddly, and not very robust. Possibly pumped up 30-40 tyres before you needed to hold all the bits in the right places to work tho. I have gone back to a cycle pump. Way better value for money, but you have to work harder. Does me more good than harm......

We're 300m away from salt water & don't have a garage-more a kind of drivethru carport. Everything rusts- I was trying to minmise the inevitable. We also have a small forest thing next to us which produces a cloud of yellow pollen every spring which gets in everywhere.
Someone else may have a need for them so thought I'd share.

http://www.torpedo7.co.nz/products/T7GGHN0HT/title/torpedo7-tach-hour-meter
http://www.torpedo7.co.nz/images/products/T7GGHN0HT_large.jpg
Install the Torpedo7 Hour/Tach Meter to keep track of your bike’s hours and stay on top of the necessary routine maintenance which is so important with today’s four-stroke engines. Track oil changes, valve adjustments, spark plugs, etc.
The Torpedo7 Hour/Tach Meter automatically monitors how many hours your engine runs for, measuring time in tenths of an hour. The hour/tach meter shows RPM’s when the engine is running. When the engine is off the meter shows total hours accumulated.
Our recommendation is to keep a maintenance log, recording the current hours when performing maintenance. This way you’ll never forget when you last changed the oil, oil filter, or any other maintenance or modification.
Features :
Keep on top of your service and maintenance schedule easily
Works on any gas engine up to 1/2/4 cylinders and MAX 99999 rpm
Records and Displays to 9,999.9 hours. Stand-by time up to over 20,000 hours
No Battery Required - connects to spark plug wire.
Automatically tracks the time your motor spends running.
Quick and easy 3 step installation with instructions peel & stick, no wiring necessary or hardware/double-sided tape included
Waterproof sealed unit
Pickup wire length = 1100mm

The locking mechanism on the head is a bit stiff, but it has a nice pumping action - much easier than my more expensive floor pump.
It seems pretty solid, so hopefully it will last a while, but for <$20 it possibly doesn't matter.

Rosie, I've got one of these Giyo pumps, had it for over 4 years, great pump. Paid a bit more than $20 for it tho.
Has a sturdy aluminium shaft, capable of high pressures, and pressure guage is a bonus, although I always double check pressure with a separate digital guage just to make sure. I use it regularly for mtb tyres, motorbike, wheelbarrow, blah, blah.

Useful to know. I just bought it to keep at work, fully expecting it to be tinny and crap, but it looks pretty good.
So I thought I should spread the word to save all those poor people trying to set the bead on their tyres using a compact hand pump :violin:

I've got one that looks identical (foot, gauge, handles etc) but with a flip up valve fitting. Got it from Kathmandu about 3 years ago ($40ish) and its done more than a few 140/80-18 tyres and still going strong.
Like the Crazy Amphibian I too check pressures with a separate gauge cause the built in one has proved to be a bit wayward.
Agree re MTB compact pumps. Anybody who's inflated a 140/80-18 or 150/70-18 on the back of a KTM 9X0 Adv (or the rear on a boxer bema) with a compact MTB hand pump will know what hard work is. (KTM 4 inch wide rim = lots of air)

Might have to look at one. I had to adjust my chain 4 times during the DB. Bike has only done 4000km so I wouldn't be surprised if it still has original chain. It is a non-oring so I guess you have to be fairly careful with maintenance but would you expect that short from a chain? It is pretty much at max adjustment now.

If it's a non-oring then it probably won't be original.

I put one of these on the 640 mid last year, it has just turned over 10K km & still looks to be in good shape. The sprockets are wearing well too, I think these may actually be better than the RK X-ring chains I was paying $180 for previously.
Cheers
Clint
On special, that's also cheaper than the "cheaper" EK520SRO!

They are good for breaking the bead, after that I take the wheel back off the stand and do it on the ground or bench or what have you.
Until I got one I was levering my beads off with 2x4s and my van. This is much better.

60litre drum with the top cut off and a bit of garen hose zip tied to the edge is the best/cheapest tyre changer ever.
A 6' G clamp and a bit of wood, will break most beads.
$60 is the price of 2 cheap bottles of Bourban.
I went to the "Dino3310 school of penny pinching".

Being that I'm not much of a handyman and I don't have any 60litre dums or anything more than a hacksaw to cut the top off with and I haven't wasted a day trying to make it work I'm a happy man with my $60 tyre thingy from T7.
Only used it on Transalp rear wheel several times so far, going to be good having it when it comes to the DR650 rear.

Brand new, unopened in packaging, TTO Temperature Gauge. Has been sitting as a spare since my rebuild so it may as well see a new home and some use.
http://image.atvrideronline.com/f/31998600/1001_atvp_09_z+trail_tech+temperature_gauge_with_s crew_sensor.jpg
Same as the ones used on my build
http://www.adventureguide.co.nz/articles/12/142/images/drz400-adv-build-19.jpg
Info and specs here (http://trailtech.net/tto.html)
Has the M6X1.0 temp sender attachment, fits straight into most Jap/metric radiators that are setup to take temperature senders, eg screws straight into the the left radiator of the DRZ400.
Cost me approx $60 including freight from the US, you can have it for $25 plus postage to your place (guessing around $4 with NZ post), first in first served, PM me if you want it, cheers

Pro-Moto Billet Rack for DRZ400E (less hardware). Selling the two arms and rack only, the spacers and bolts used for installing are in use on my current setup however the spacers can be easily whipped up by a fitter-turner for around $30 or thereabouts, the M6 and M8 bolts won't be more than $5 with at your local nuts/bolt shop.
This is the type of rack it is:
http://images.solomotoparts.com/images/bustersdirtshop/detailed/d_35375.jpg
PLEASE NOTE: Due to an order stuff up it is for an E offroad, will not fit S/SM/E Road subframes without a modification. If you want to fit it to an S or SM or roard registered E model, you will need to modify a spacer to fit onto the subframe (note I welded a spacer to my subframe but this is not necessary, it can be mounted with the use of just a spacer bolted in place):
http://www.adventureguide.co.nz/articles/12/142/images/drz400-adv-build-13.jpg
More info here (http://www.adventureguide.co.nz/articles/12/142/drz400-adv-build.php)
Initial purchase cost me the better part of $240 landed here from the US, there is a bit of fluffing around fitting it so with that in mind you can have it for $50 plus the cost of freight to your place. With a bit of workshop time you should be able to get a nice rack setup for under $100
Fist in first served, PM me if you want it, cheers

Warehouse buys a 51% stake in Torpedo 7.
http://www.stuff.co.nz/business/industries/8377663/Warehouse-buys-majority-stake-in-Torpedo7
The Warehouse has bought just over half of Hamilton-based online retailer Torpedo7 for up to $33 million.
The Warehouse, which has its own daily deals site Red Alert, will pay $20m upfront for a 51 per cent share in the company, with the remaining performance-related $13m payable over three years.
Existing shareholders in Torpedo7 - which will continue to be run by the same management as a standalone business - will keep the remaining 49 per cent of the company.

Pretty sharp price for enduro wheels from T7 (http://www.torpedo7.co.nz/products/T7WHSN0MX/title/torpedo7-mx---enduro-cnc-wheel-set).
They list a 21 x 1.6 / 18 x 2.15 set for the DRZ (400 I was told). For that price I am wondering if a Freewind would take DRZ wheels and also an 18" rear... (stock is 17). Starter for 10: what differences exist between DR and DRZ wheels (other than rim sizes)?

As said, Sand 2 is coming out, so Sand is on sale.
I have the Sand pants, not entirely happy with a dual liner for pants (bit cumbersome really), but I guess it does give maximum flexibility. Typical Rev'it gear really, no major surprises. It's pre the goretex range, so not THAT flash. Only annoyance I've had is some rough stitching on one knee armour insert. Take out the liners (summer) and the spot rubs on your skin, fucken sore over a few hours. Haven't figured out how to fix it (my standard answer of duct tape didn't stick)...
I've found the pockets on the hips, the zips constantly come undone by themselves, but I don't store anything in them. Got some nice vents on the thighs, but only really effective if you're standing. Waist is a catch and popper, doesn't come undone, and you have waist adjustment tabs, no problems there. I think of the goretex range (forget which) has issues with it coming undone.
PM Devil if you like, he has a Sand suit, also got turfed off the bike in it.
