Morning gents

We (Bro Paul and I) embarked on a road ride around the block to run in the SMR .. woulda been better off buying an Adv instead with the road conditions!

So we left Chch Friday lunchtime to Nelson via Lewis pass, the snow warning light was flashing in the dash from Hawarden basically right through to the Hope.

A few seat clenching moments, one ice throttle wobble and shitloads of fine gravel and mud to keep me on the game plan of no gardening with the SMR.

The SMR looked very second hand before we even got to Springs junction.

So Friday night, Bike night at Colins, cool to meet more new faces and help with the nights work on the bikes.

Saturday we rode to Murch, turned off at O Sullivan's bridge and went down the Buller Gorge motorcross track covered in grit and ice and through to Westport to stay the night with a mate.

Sunday saw a beautiful day with travel from Westport down the coast road to Greymouth through to Jacksons for lunch, up over the Otira with ice and grit Arthurs and back to Chch.

1074 km covered and bike booked in for 1000 km service at Superior in Chch on Monday morning, picked up the bike and drove back to Wonka Monday night and back to work for a break.

Great trip and first ride with my bro for years.

Heya Clint

The engine is not as smooth as the Hyper but remembering Katie is on std maps and pipes so bloody lean and surging, the ECU has been flashed but I have not ridden it yet.

The suspension is a universe ahead on Katie despite the Ducati Marshocking S forks and Ohlins make believe rear, the WP makes both look pretty silly.

The wheels are in essence the same both being forged lightweight, the Hyper is SSS which does look nice.

Katie is a much bigger bike all round, warmer to ride because of the tank design and the SMT seat which i bought with the bike is superior.

All in all I am seriously looking forward to getting the slipons on and getting a dry day without gravel and mud to hang it out and put her to the test on our local roads.

Thus far I am stoked and I see that only getting better, the engine is angry which is enough to whack a grin on any hooligans face.

Great looking bike and awesome wheelie there dude. Love the look and reported performance of the SMR -if only it was available with the Adv capability (without the ugly looks). Whats the funny looking bike your bros got? Looks vaguely familiar somehow.:innocent:

looks like a tasty biscuit Andi.
I saw Jay today & he's pretty happy with his one. He didn't ride it back tho - picked it up & bought it to Nelson in van & changed to some less dangerous tyres.

Cheers Padmei, I think he will enjoy his too, I changed my front to a Pilot Power and the rear to a Pilot road 2c prior to picking it up so at least I have some piece of mind when it is wet etc.

I like the look of that Morini you got a pic of in Murch. So the gorge is pretty crappy aye, I did think about heading down to Westport for lunch this weekend but I'll give it a miss if the roads are crappy

Heya Jatz yeah the Morini is a cool machine, he had just come in from the Maruia Saddle, dude lives near Tophouse somewhere.

Would postpone your lunch or change venue, certainly wasn't a fast ride through there with the mud, wet, frost and grit particularly in the first section to the Lyell Bridge.

Ahhh! thats what I saw today in town. First I thought it was a Guzi then from the side a new black Ten. Thanks for clearing that up.
