on one side the aprilia official team in SBK :another planet.. no comment..
on our side: italian championship 1000 : it is not so easy..
remember my posts about first ride of rsv4??
trackdays are one thing ..
a race is totally different.
my team use during theese years:ducati 998r, rsv v2, 998 rs than 999r, suzuki k8 1000, 1098s...
the most difficoult motor/bike has been 998r..
the most easy rsv v2 2007.. no problem in engine..easy set up. than: easy set up but really really difficoulties in engine powerup and spare parts (during the time from changing ride from aprilia to piaggio owners)..
999 really difficoult to setup engine not so superb.. with a lot of money a V2 aprilia could be really better!
suzuki k8:powerup motor with poor money easy to manteinence but really really difficoult to ride and drive..spare parts easy to have as rain in winter!
1098 superb...but V4... is superbsuperbsuperb....in riding and driving..
engine: after an engine blowup we had back a new one,no powerups on it only akra full titanium and a pc3 to optimize and mount the electroni shift...
cleaning..sparkplugs..oil...as an aprilia v2.. perfect.
the set up: if iu consider only the suspension setup is perfect.. if you want to play with everything else (engine position, steering angle..) you will find the hell!!..the setup become really difficoult and the bike too.. for sure to play with theese advance things an advance telemetry system is a must!!!
the bike is fast..and not forious!
but consider that the R model is really cheaper and the suspensions, showa are really good!
may be we could spend less in the bike and have more money to live!
ps. the bike is awsome!
pps i come back to race with an old k7 1000 suzu...a bike that race as a freecard in sbk 07 in vallelunga..on mugello set a top speed to 309kmh... bought from the team at 8000€ .... really race plug and play just add 98oct fuel!!!....so 1/3 than an rsv tuneup.... so think about it!
