A more accurate title for your thread may be "bikes reputed to be in NZ but which don't get seen"
You may be surprised just what is tucked away - like the Tesi answer.

Name something you doubt is here & let's see what comes out....

I was going to make a flippant comment like: "a nice Suzuki" but that would be rude and I have in fact owned a nice Suzuki.

We are pretty lucky here with the bike we receive compared to many other markets. I've read somewhere that our regulations basically allow any Japanese home market bike to come here with respect to noise, emissions etc.

Stuff like the new V-max is even available despite being a very small market for that ride.

As for the Italian exotics - pop down enough money and I'm sure you'll get one:Punk:

Any Munch Mammuths in NZ?

You may actually have hit on one that's not here.... One in Oz to my knowledge though.

Bimotas - there are a lot here, don't know about a DB7 - owners club should know.

Honda CB500
Honda NTV650
Yamaha FZR600
Yamaha YZF750
Yamaha Thundercat
Yamaha 600 Diversion
Yamaha FZ600 (early ones)

Out of those ones, I've seen the NTV650 (Revere), FZR600 and 600 Diversion here.
Those early FZ600's were an FZ400 with an XJ600 motor in them for the USA market.

I owned a CB500 but that was a long time ago.
KBer Janno is currently selling her NVT650.
Another local KBer here owns or owned a Thundercat.

Deauvilles are around but Bluewing in their wisdom(?) don't bring them in. They seem to appear regularly on Trademe though, last time I looked there were several.

There was an NCR at the National Ducati Rally this year. I've only seen one Bimota but wouldn't know what model. We were at the Picton ferry terminal, the guy had just ridden it round the South Island.

You might expect to see exotica parked outside a cafe on Ponsonby Road but it's sometimes quite startling whats out on the farms after a good year.

I've seen all of those bar the CB500, of which I assume you mean the later model twin not the CB500F from the 70's?

I figure it's either one of these (one is twin-shock, the other is single)

I'm talking about the early Phasers. Seen the newer ones and the big one but not the early 600's.

oops my mistake.
My sister had one of those 600 Fazers in UK. Absolutely loved it.

The one I was referring to was this... (which is also rare)

To my knowledge Blue Wing did bring in one NTV650 because I have it - a 2004 model. A client also bought a new one (also 2004) ex Australia and I purchased this one from him last year when he decided to reduce the number of toys in his garage. So now I have two. I believe that the one that originally came in to Whangarei is now floating around somewhere on Auckland's north shore, theres one in Napier ex the UK and I believe that a fuel injected 700 (2009 model) was in New Plymouth.

I also had one of the original 1989 NT600 Revere's - ran up 143,000 miles on it and last I heard this was in Warkworth or Wellsford. There were 19 NT600's imported in 1989 by Blue Wing and the original trial bike was an NT650. Since the advent of Japanese imports there have been a heap of 250/400/600/650 Bros/Reveres come in as grey imports. The Transalp engine (600 and 650) is basically identical to the Revere/Bros/Deauville.

There were a heap of the Honda v's brought in to the SI as grey imports.
Seen a couple of 400 Fazers too - home market version of the euro 600.
There must have been at least one CB500 twin in NZ - one of the 450's on my bench turns out to have a CB500 head...450 has a cast in skull, 500 has seat inserts.

Yeah, the early Fazer 600's were cheap speed. Thundercat motor in budget frame but bloody good fun.

As for the 80's FZ400's. I had the even rarer "N" for naked model with magnesium rocker, clutch & alternator covers. Lovely bike and went like stink.

And the DN-01, although I think the engine's up to about 670 now. All of which only makes it harder to understand why Bluewing don't bring the Deauville in. They were on the shop floor in Oz last time I looked, not here though.
