:angry:I am so farkin over it,work 4 days on 4 off and after a couple of beauty days whilst at work decided to drag the old S out of the shed and head somewhere today to recharge both its and my batteries,up at 5.30 and though a tad cold all seemed ok so set about having a good brekkie before departing.Mrs rolls in from work at 6 and has a coffee and heads to the pit i thought i would pop over to the park next door and give the dog a run before leaving, what happens?it starts pissing down and being a soft old prick i flag my riding thoughts away:angry:Are winters getting colder or am i simply getting softer?buggered if i know.Anyway rant over and will go cut some kindling and light the bloody fire i guess.May well head down to the shop buy a bike mag and hit the couch to read of other peoples rides.:shifty:

All good mate, riding is for run, and getting wet and cold generally isn't, so par for the course.

My bike is my only transport, I guess I am just used to being wet & cold.
I didn't think this winter was that bad.

I'm the same, riding is mostly about fun for me now, and riding in wet miserable weather ain't much fun. Although I will add that if I have no choice I do actually still enjoy it. It's just I'm not going to get out of bed ecstatic about going for a ride in the piss-arse weather.

I dont have a choice as no car licence. TBH the weather hasn't been as cold as it has been in previous years. Riding in the rain is good for confidence building IMO!

While I agree with you there you do have to be careful that those little slides etc in winter don't knock your confidence for when the roads are dry again. I had never considered this before as I don't mind the bike slipping and sliding under me, but I read about it the other day and it does kind of make sense. It's all about riding smarter, regardless of the conditions.

If anything, its all the idiots crawling down the motorway holding everyone up that irritates me the most. They also seem to refuse to move into a gap in the middle lane so I can carry on
Not too fussed with weather, but yes, its more enjoyable in the dry

winter is not a problem here in thailand
in fact just bought a fan to help cool me while I read my book on the balcony
when it goes over 30 it gets a bit hot
(carted a pedestal fan on my bike in the asian tradition too)

Hmmm, I find this rather amusing. So many people I met every day have been saying pretty much the same...without the bike ride bit.
My answer...what the f...you complaining about, this has to be one the most mildest winters in ages. Well for Nelson. Have only had about 5 really good frosts, I'm still waiting for winter to arrive. I love the really cold mornings when we bundle up with hats, gloves, scarfs and jackets and brave the outdoors everyday to go to school, as much as i complain about my poor cold nose, i so love the white frost on the grass. The big blows of huff into the cold air. The sliding on the frost...i love to complain about that it freezing and when is summer coming...and then when summer does come, i complain about being too hot!
Honestly, there's just no pleasing some people. Enjoy your winter for it shall soon be over. Enjoy each day for those too will be over.....

Picture your biggest carpark in town... no wait, the bigger town over, no, not the little one, the BIG one, and their biggest carpark. Now fill it with cars.
Dot these in lines across a big space (think national park space) full of cars... thats a motorway... we call them moronways up here, since only morons seem to inhabit them
