No Orc's were harmed in the making of these films.
(His "Rolla Door" closes more quietly than mine, and his other rolladoor has the same crap shocks as mine had in the 80's.

Bastard.

I keep telling myself that once my bits come back from the nice man who is powdercoating them black my bike will be even more beautiful and that will more than make up for it that it's OK not to ride right now because of the grit on the roads.

Pity I don't believe myself and thank God that the desire to own a Honda went away the moment I stopped watching the video.

Thing is the bikes being aimed at the born again and triumph type posers, I mean after all a tootpaste tube and #46 helmet just wouldnt suit aye...

I love the look of it, and even emailed my dealer about price and availability.

but given the Honda tax, would you not be better off buying something functionally equivalent but much much cheaper: say one of those grey import mid 90's CB750F's out of Japanland?

Yeah, it's got potential. There are bugger all bikes that come from the factory ready to ride - I can't leave bikes alone and end up giving everything I own at least one makeover - every time I look at a bike I think "imagine if...." I was looking a V11 Sport the other day and thinking maybe I need to return to the dark side, but wasn't sure what to do to it.

err very Retro.

Looks likes me CB250RS from the 80's ... just missing the drum brakes.

Whilst I like Roadster style bikes, I also like to see something new in a new model (even the Harley XR1200R had a fresh look). Its not ugly or shit just nothing new or better than a twenty year old CB750/1000. (2cents, no flame).

the sound of an angry triple is truly addictive and due to the student lifestyle and a new mortgage I can't afford both.

You Guzzi people are evil, I keep thinking back to my old Mk2 and the many miles we shared, that lovely rocking side to side thing, the seat like a plank and those electrics.... God I loved that bike.

as std fitings? or are you saying yours is a 95? Triumph are very high quality these days proberly more so than the CB1100 the thread is about. The v11 I have Ohlins is std, not that there was anything wrong with the WP they used to and still do use.

This 10 CB, it is ok aye, perhaps some veraints of it and some nicer running gears I asume it has the Honda owned Showa shit.

Big Dave

You are out of touch there ol' bean,

Can't comment on the track use - but Showa make very good road bike suspension these days. Have done for years. like all of them - the more you spend the better the results.

Agree Ohlins are better - not that much better to warrant the $ upgrading the three-way adjustable set up on both ends of my Buell. Again unlike your apps - I'm talking all-roads use.

The 1995 T'bird had Kyaba as standard. Worked OK till it emulsified - about 15K.

But they (Kyaba) have lifted their game over the past 5 years too.

I look back to the first wide glide I tested and the way current ones handle and it's quite remarkable really how far suspension and handling has come in 10 years.

Same advances as horsepower.

It took 40 years for 'ordinary' bikes to go from 50 to 100 horsepower and under 10 to go from 100 to 150

I rode most of those roads back in June 2006 in a 2000 Km loop around South Island. The run down the side of Lake Hawea was unreal.

The sound of that Honda was just crap. About the same as a lazy old Tiger Moth. Couldn't they tune those pipes up in a sound chamber? I'm not very impressed but who cares what I think?

So, once again, if you want the old look in the new style why not just buy a nice 1969 K0 and be done with it?

That thing has been on TM for over a year

Modern Guzzis are too sanitised, even with the quick ride I had on your one; it just didn't have the feel or character of the early ones....dont get me wrong though, it's still a bloody nice ride and no doubt would run circles around any of it's stable bretheren from years gone by  but the raw lumpiness has been flushed out of the system.

You'd have to sell the T'bird and get something from italy :msn-wink:

This would be a easy rebuild for a taste of what CBs were about

Sell the T Bird? Nooooooo.........

I kind of agree about the new Guzzis being a little sanitized. If my wrists and back permitted I'd be into a Mk2 or Mk3 Le Mans in a second, and have considered getting a T3 or similar and building something in the shed - maybe next winter when I'm not a student making do on 20 hours a week work.

You're right about the CB1100R - picking up a damaged new CB would be the way forward.

Sell the T Bird? Nooooooo......... .

Park it up & use for special occasions only  and still get a italian triple or keep using it, get another T'bird crank and get it rebuilt to 180deg firing & fit a custom ignition system to suit :shifty:

A Dr John replica would be a good project :msn-wink: . Ditto about the wrists & back thing..... my mate brought a Green frame 1000s brand new & only had it a couple of months before selling due to those exact issues...almost crippled him within 40mins of riding and there was no-way I was going to fold-up into it

CB1000R..........now THERE is a bike.

A guy I knew back in 1989 bought one and impressed us all. He rode it a while, and eventually we all said he would kill himself on it. Sadly, 2 weeks later we woz right.

Cool bikes, the big Hondas. If I had a garage and the choice to own 6 bikes, a big Honda would be one of them. I can only have one, and a Honda ain't it.
