I have a 2004/5 w650 and I really like it but it is a bit quiet. On the net there are suggestions for removing baffles to release more sound.
My question is this:
If I do this, will I need to rejet and will it bugger up the back pressure for the valves?
A friend has one and done it. I will find out tomorrow and let you know.
Seem to remember it wasn't as simple as it appeared.
Emailed him and this was his reply.
Will have trouble getting the baffles out of original mufflers, I reverted to new aftermarket (straight through), there was very little backfire so didn’t retune anything. Open up the air box with two wholes either side about the size of a 50c piece makes a big difference, plenty of noise and go (different bike).

cheers - I have been a bit wary of trying to get the baffles out as the exhausts are one piece jobbies and bloody expensive - did your friend use the grind off the welds and drift the baffles out trick that is on the owners club site online?
his reply.

From what I remember at the time , he gave up in frustration and bought after market .
