Im a bit puzzled as well! Everytime I have ridden it has been underwater so I havnt really found a fast line. All i can suggest is stay wide on the entry as the corner can suck you in to turn in too early. Turn late and straighten up over the bump.

I might take a walk next round to have a closer look!

As I love that part of long track - i give out a hint which was given to me by Chris O, as chopper stated wide entry.. but if you can cross the bump with ya tires basically as close as you can to the inside line, like 1 foot ( yes your basically hanging over the grass ) the bump 'nearly' disappears. Lastly for rach get your ass off the seat, helps the bike soak up the bump....

I do love long track .....hope its dry for you.....it might have something to do with few good laps last year ......CHALLENGE to your F3 hard cores!!!! 2:02.6

your RG suits the long track... keep in close like the others have said... let the bike drift out as you wind on the gas don't slow for the last turn into the front straight just keep it going hard... you'll love it:scooter:

I'm pretty sure your not alone rachprice...I don't think there really is a 'fast line' through there:blink:

I do love the last part of that corner coming out onto the long track but I know Im losing time on that corner compared to everyone else/other corners

Just lift your knee Rach or you might lose a slider on the ripple strip.

Was TRYING to follow Brian Bernard through there last track day we had the long track and he was triple apexing the corner ! Seemed to be a peg he aimed at (not a brake marker but just a brown wooden) if the grass is cut and it's still there look for that , then he was hitting the trench just as it joined the larger patch about 4 or 5 ft out , i still felt it was less of a bump right on the ripple as Niel said and you had the extra 4 or 5 ft to get it back over after straightening a little (if your steaming) the rest was just as AJ said drifting wide futher than you think you should after the ditch with it tapped and hitting the apex where it comes onto the old track at full steam at just the right point (Lol yeah right)

Ha - I asked the same thing after that Brian Bernard trackday (and I missed round 2)

There is some stuff in this thread:

http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/showthread.php/114634-Manfeild-long-circuit-question...

I have only been around that part of the track for maybe 6 laps, so next round is going to be interesting!

Cheers

I guess with the wee streetstock bikes sometimes we take different lines cos there is just no power to get out of a corner
maybe I should get there super early and go for a walk over there.

Pretty much the best way just chuck it in have faith in the tyres and suspension and if that dont work hopefully you leathers and helmet will save you:innocent:

I have never wanted to test the limits on that corner but I think it is more physcological than anything. On a street stock, I'm guessing you would want to make that corner as short as possible and take the inside line of the bump.

The next corner is much more important for lap times though I reckon.

You mean I'm supposed to get my knee down?

Hope this helps ya Rachael. I just gingerly tip it onto it's side just before the bumpety bit...it's the fast bit of the corner that scares me. By the time I'm at the corner exit you could probably forge steel between my arsecheeks

Oh you are sweet thanks for the effort hahaha
That is pretty much the line that I take...maybe its not my line but more my balls or lack of that is the issue (theoretical balls!)
My bike isn't fast enough that Im shitting myself at the fast bit

In my first 2 rounds this is where I crashed....

hehe, I called last year 'My quest for Balls' simply cause that's really what it's all about!

Put it this way; we are on pretty much the slowest bikes out there so it aint gonna hurt so much now while we learn! Anyway we HAVE to ride throttle open everywhere but the hairpins so may as well grow some balls now!

You'll be fine, get there early and walk the back part of the track. You won't regret it!!

On the very inside is definitely the place to be. But as everyone says just try and relax and trust your'll be alright, you get used to it. It is a pain tho. But then again, i wouldn't listen to me, i've crashed on every corner apart from T2 at manfield.

If you think its bad on a SS150 try it on a 125GP bike.

Should be fun seeing how all of the 450's go against each other

12 Jarrod Wintle Yamaha R450
27 Chris Osborne Ozzy 450R
38 Duncan Keene Suzuki GSXR450R
43 Shane Taylor Triumph TT450
307 Trevor Delany Yamaha R450

Although Trevor Delany is down for F2 but not F3 at round 4??

I always liked the inside. As others have mentioned, try to be within a foot of the inside track at 'that' point. Being on a 150, I'm guessing you don't need to go too wide, otherwise you are covering needless real estate. The important part is to look for the bump asap and head in that direction, as you get closer and your happy your on the right trajectory, look past that bump (not at it!) and try and make sure you cross through it with at least some throttle on, this will give your suspension an easier time and any misbehavior will be auto corrected/sorted out faster. If there is no one to pass let the bike drift out a little and then bring it back in tighter for the rest. If there is someone in front, do not use their line, if they are tight, but you are to far away to go around, go a little extra wider then cut hard under them and gas it, if they brake earlier than you for the sweeper (do 150's brake for the sweeper?) you can either cut across them (to a point :innocent:) nicking off with their line, or simply ride around the sweeper and them on your chosen line providing you are confidant with your speed to pull off the pass.
If they are out wide after the bump, cut through on the inside, try and stay tight later than you normally would, so that way it makes it harder for them to pull of the same move on you that I described earlier :shifty: It also will give you a chance to take a line through the sweeper that lets you cut under them on the exit and hopefully get to the line 1st

what you have described is what i managed to do to a 250 (i was on the 150) and beat him across the finish line by a couple of bike lengths...

and

No .. the 150's don't need to brake for that last sweeper on the long track...
