Hi all,
Well it's not me thats going for it :( but my partner HAS TO do his restricted. :scooter: Ya see he got caught doing 85k's on da motorway the other night on the way home, got stopped by a rather nice cop (YES, those two words are possible in one sentence!!! :gob: )
Anyway, he was let off with being told, 'book your rstricted and send me notification through'!!
So nice of him.
But our long story short and the moral to this question...
Is there a route they use when you do your restricted test??? We are on the North Shore, AUckland and he's gonna book at the AA Centre off Constilation Drive.
Any clues? He's reading up on his road code etc but a heads up could be great!
Cheers all,
Asha & Mike :)

He should be fine. And if not, perhaps he shouldn't be riding anyway ;) (it's that easy)

The AA don't do the testing do they? When I booked mine, they gave me a choice of where I would like to "ride" the test....i.e Browns Bay/Orewa.
I did mine at Browns Bay, and the ride they choose is a piece of piddle!
This is where they took me for mine....
Met at the Soccer Club Rooms at Andersons Road, and ride down Sartors Ave turn onto Glencoe Road, throught the lights to Browns Bay, next left, then left again, popping you out on the road that leads to the round-about by the Brownzy, up the road, round the 35km corner turn into Carlisle Road, stop at lights, turn right into East Coast Road, head up that way for a bit, pull a U turn, go back East Coast Road, turn right into Oteha Valley Road, through all those farking round-abouts, turn onto the motorway, off ramp into Greville Road, turn onto East Coast Bays Road again and left into Andersons Road, and left into the Soccer Club Rooms for the wee man to sign that awesome little peice of paper that we call the restricted licence :D

why does everyone think there is a set route? sure there may be some streets shared, but its never the same. its where ever and as long as the tester wants. there is NOT a set route
but its simple. restricted is very simple. just by turning up you have done 80% of the work. especially when its booked at 8am. damn their times..

as above, if hes been riding 6 months plus and he cant pass the test its time to get back in a car (or even better on a bus)

I'm sure he will be fine. he's been riding most days for ova a year. The :Police: followed him for long enough and the only reason he pulled him up was cause of the L Plate on it. If it wasn't for that he would have been fine!! (Damn for being law abiding!! plus it's my bike and I still need the L Plate :( )

I think the AA testing centre out at Orewa is much better. They can do both the practical and administrative part at the same centre - and well, Orewa - it's a nice quiet place for doing the test.

As well as your riding you must have got points for remembering the route verbatim.

I try and remember all my routes ;)
I did pretty much exactly what scubygurl did, asked around to see what route (if any) they used and it seems it is pretty set. I practiced the route a couple of times prior to my test to purely get rid of the nerves. They did that exact same route for my full, and in both cases the rider-to-tester intercom thingie was busted.
