So, Dad dropped the M50

Pretty self explanatory really..

he used to ride a dirt bike when i was little, so he came home from overseas trip, finished mowing the grass and wanted to have a go on me bike.

"sure!" i say (never sayin that word again ever..)

rides around, came back to the drive way decide to low speed manouver around the wet freshly cut grass at low speeds.. tried to do a u-turn on a slope... starts to tilt .. more .. then arrive at dangerous looking angle... i thought "shit"

next thing i knew.. the bike was flat on its belly, maybe slightly past horizontal.

helped him pick the bike up .. lucky it was very muddy and everyting was saved from beeing scratched. The front left indicator was slightly bent, but he muscled it back into place.

Started her up.. sounded a bit funny like it was gonna die so i reved, then it all came right.. idled normal. At this stage my hands were kinda still shaking, so stalled the thing, restarted, took her for a short lap around the block. Everything seemed to be Ohk, thank god..

How can i tell if the PAIR unit on the left has been damaged or not? Or anything else for that matter? everythying seems to run smoothly still, do i need to take her into a dealer to be checked out? the EFI shouldnt be damanged right?

at least he offered to throw my 21st at his place next week haha.

Sounds like he ran out of lock,after riding dirt bikes for so many years,I get annoyed with the lack of lock on road bikes....but don't admit to dropping any.Keep your mouth shut and don't ask him to fix your bike....and don't expect any presents on your birthday either.

A walking pace lean over (hardly a drop) on a mushy grass surface will do nothing but cosmetic harm. Give it a clean and polish and ride it.

And don't let your dad near it again.

He did appologise though, and 'fixed' the wonky indicator. All is forgiven seeing as no harm was done!

haha every time i reverse into a parking spot, i stay about 50cm to 1m away from the back of the bikes (perpendiclar to them), and about half a car length 'in front' of the actuall parking spot. Then i turn full lock left, and just walk the bike back, fits perfectly nearly everytime!

Took my M50 in for its service, rode it around the back of bike shop to the service bay coasted to a stop turned engine off and proceeded to dismount forgetting the side stand much to the amusement of all the service dept. Best entertainment they'd had in years they reckoned! Just a bit of cosmetic damage. Since traded bike but always went well.

Quick tip here: After your bike gets dropped... After you pick it up wait 5-10 minutes before starting the bike.

Just lets the oil get back into the sump and drain away from the places it normally isn't allowed to flow. Helps prevent fouling of the plugs, injectors, tappets etc.

If there is any oil on the ground after you pick the bike up... leave it even longer before starting and check your oil levels.
