we have had a server upgrade and now the powers that be can monitor fully our internet traffic. it was all good until this afternoon when suddenly up popped a message saying " Kiwibiker.co.nz was blocked by mail marshell due to code "block all pornography"". :weird:
bugger, oh well, nevermind. i am trying to come up with an excuse to get KB back but, how can i justify KB for work purposes?? Help!!!

Your system may be too highly attuned to the use of expletives, fuck it.

Mail Marshall is a sensitive beast...sometimes it backfires though. A year or so ago, I was doing a stint of paper monkey work at a law firm. They held the prosecution warrant. Now, on one occasion Mail Marshall got excited handling documents relating to the prosecution of some freezing workers...
...you guessed it - they were B*NERS! Hehe . Just as well the sys-admin was also one of the prosecutors. (Found this out while grovelling for an email my partner had sent me signing off with 3 Xs)

Depends on the products used by the company but this how some of them work.
First type,
All web surfing is passed through a single point filter . Depending on settings the product will block a site that contains certain words associated with adult content or swear words. The product will block the website from that point and would require the systems administrator to unblock it.
Second Type
The product puts web sites into different catagorys like business , sport , leasure , news etc. Each time you visit a site the product checks it's database and depending on policy will allow or block the website. The good thing for kiwibikers is most of these products are USA based so kiwibiker isn't in these databases so doesn't get blocked.
Third type.
Inline filter that checks images downloaded for certian colours such as flesh tones . If too much of a certian flesh tone appears the site will be blocked .
Fourth Type
B@rstard Systems administrator
This is the person in the company who has the role of checking on web surfing against company policy. Company's often run what are called "internet proxy servers" . Proxy servers save a company internet time / money by storing a local copy of a web site when visited . Proxy servers also have very detailed logs about which user visited what site , for how long and at what times. The B@rstard admin will check these logs and may decide to "block" a web site due to content / size / time . This is the most comon type of internet policing.
Not a lot that can be done about types 1 -3 , but here's a bit of help to avoid the watchful eye of type 4 if your viewing KB from work. :Police:
1, Go into your user CP and select your image options .Scroll down to and select image censoring. That way R18 images won't be downloaded . :innocent:
2, Vary your internet use at work , make sure you have an even balance between work and leasure (If company policy allows). You'll less likey to be noticed if your clocking up a lot of time here.
3, Avoid the links with video content , as this will quickly put you at the top of the user downloading list followed by a visit from your manager. :nono:
4,Surfing by users is most noticable either early morning or late evening (Start or end of proxy logs are checked the most) :
5, Find out who the system admin is, get them into motorcycling , take in morning tea , bribe as a last resort. :devil2:

Tell them you need it for your mental stability and without a daily dose of KB you are likely to climb the nearest water tower with the office stapler (the big one for those weighty proposals) and go ballistic.
By way of a demo... Staple your bosses tie to the wall...

bike porn...??
Yeah - like "naked bikes" or "bikini fairings"
You don't think "forks" and "swinging" arms have anything to do with "hard"ware do you?
Noticed a lot of people "getting wet" on their bikes lately?
c'mon man - open your eyes will ya?

I like prawn. A bit shellfish to block it though.
