So, I'm the proud new owner of a "2001" Kawasaki KR150! I suspect it's actually a late 90s model which was imported in '01, as it is the KR150A model.

As gutsy as this bike is, especially for a 150, I'm wondering if it would be possible to make it gutsier still. From what I've read it seems the later KR150s are a bit faster,(or possibly significantly faster if you belienve some people). There's a wreckers which is currently pulling apart a newer Kawasaki 150, and I was wondering whether or not the expansion chamber and exhaust system could be dropped straight on to my model, and if so would it make any real difference to performance? Failing that, does anyone know of any relatively easy and safe mods to up the power on the KR 150 A models?

i think the main difference between the 2 models was the power valve system,
it didnt really effect the top end at all just the usability of the mid power,
i think iof youy are lacking at the top, then its time to de-coke your exhaust system,
carbon builds up inside and changes the chambers volume,

its best to burn it out, but you can use caustic soda, (burny to the hands so use gloves) can be bought at bunnings cheaply,
mix with water, cork 1 end of exhaust, fill up with caustic mixture and leave it for 5 or 6 hours
then empty out and rinse through with the hose,

then go for a ride,

happy days
