hey guys hows your memories, a friend of mine at the time John Hunter raced a 750 katana in a six hour in the early eighties he did not last a lap he binned it in the sweeper can anyone remember what year and who is team mate was I think the bike went over the fence like Robert Holdens did. He died some years later in a construction accident as I recall he was fast and dangerous and his team mate owned the bike,

Thanks for that age certainly plays havoc I think the crash may have been at a winter road race meet prior to 6 hour now that i thinking about it we were all gobsmacked when John was leading the 750 's of Robert Holden and co down the back shoot at manfield. All I remember is looking at the owner of that bike in its 6 hour shakedown run spiralling into the hoardings at the sweeper similar to Roberts famous one through the sign "classic" If any vic club members at the time can remember I would love to hear from ya

Didnt Robert go through the "Holden" sign if I remember rightly? Robert Holden lost the front end going into dunlop on the 1135 suzuki in dec 84. He went through the holden sign, wasn't the six hour though, brut 33 countrywide international series.

Cool, thanks jelly - you obviously know your racing history - I guess you were there too. There seemed to be a hell of a lot more spectators in those days - not sure whats happened - bikes have got faster/spectators got less. I did the 250 proddie 2 hr in 85 - heaps of fun. Cheers:rockon:

Was he from welly & had some sort of IT job (in the dawn of IT jobs) think it was 83 and thought the guy died a few years later from a brain tumour.
