Yesterday sometime, around lunch time, a female rider, friend of mine, came off her Triumph cruiser in Woodcocks Road.
She is a well known local lass who does alot of work with youth and public events. Not sure of any details about crash or causes, weather was wet and slippery and patch where accident was has alot of bare tar and uneven bits. No other vehicles appear involved.
Rider has serious head injuries, had surgery relieving pressure to the brain and removing clotts. Still sedated in an induced coma as I understand.
Thoughts are with you precious, hopefully the Lord not ready for you yet, and we'll see you out there on the roads again.
Thoughts with you D, thinkin and prayin for you.:ride::ride::ride:

If you're in contact with her anytime please pass on the KB concerns and best wishes. I think I can safely say that?
Not good. I can only assume she would have been wearing a helmet so head injuries must mean a fairly serious off. :bye: Hopefully they can bring her around sooner rather than later.

The helmet came off somehow, was found separated from the rider in the accident. Wasn't any other noted injuries, speed was deemed under 80km so all a bit weird really. .
I will pass on the thoughts and regards when she is conscious, hopefully soon.

Perhaps not properly fastened? I must confess I've come home from work a couple of times and gone to remove my helmet only to find I'd forgotten to do it up! :gob: I do plead old age and senility, :shifty: but it can happen. If you have a windshield you can ride without noticing it's undone.

Sorry to hear about this and certianly hope for a speedy recovery.
I'm with you Ed. I always do up my helmet but came back from a relatively hard ride two and half hours long a couple of weeks back and when I went to remove my helmet, found I had forgotten to do up the strap. Was due to the fact my normal routine was interuppted with the fitting of my neck warmer which of course meant the strap didn't swing about alerting me to the fact once underway.
Once of only 2 times it's happened to me since getting back into bike five years ago with 80,000kms under my belt since then. It happens. :(
Not saying that's the case here but helmets don't normally come off if correctly fitting.

It's happened to me quite a few times. It's quite fun when that happens ay!

It put the shits up me the first few times it happened, but the best thing you can do when that happens is try to relax and let the bike do its own thing instead of trying to fight it.

Unfortunatly the outcome for this lass is rather bleak. It was an open face helmet so she would have noticed if the strap was undone, i.e. as soon as she started riding it would have "lifted", perhaps the strap was loose though. I do not condone open face helmets but I guess they are better than none at all.
It would appear that bare shiny tar on a wet road, with a bike with brand new tyres and a (relativly) inexperienced rider on this bike have all come together to this tragic result.
Thoughts with the family.
I take it this thread is delayed, it was Saturday, not yesterday.

Rider is off life support, breathing on her own, doing positively. She is responsive to 2 families voices by squeezing their hand with her right hand, even hough she still in a coma.
She has been moving and playing with daughters hand most of the day, though only with her right hand.
Doctors spoke with her explaining/ testing some things, after which she gave a gentle thumbs up to show she understood.
Still very serious, and unsure how she will recover. Family all praying and hoping she recovers fully with use of left side and no permanent brain damage.
The family are truly appreciative of all thoughts and prayers. I passed on all the comments and well wishes from here.
Will keep updates as things change.

Well, the Gal is a battler. Looks like she will be out of critical ward tomorrow if she keeps improving. They removed all the tubes and throat lines today to see how she goes.
She can wriggle her left toes to response and everyone is getting more and more hopeful. Still a long ways to go, but flip she is fighting hard. It's a real testament of grace, will and strength.
Thanks all for the thoughts and prayers. The family are so appreciative.

O dear,
Not a good situation for the Lass or her family. So pleased she has a great support base of positive individuals around her as she recovers. Certainly puts some events into perspective.
Best wishes for her recovery.

That's good advice.
A slight ease off the gas lets the bike right itself.
The helmet thing should not ever happen. BUT it happened to me today. It was cold this morning and putting on my neck buff sploilt my routine and I forgot to fasten my helmet. I realised what I had done a couple of Ks down the road and put it right.
I don't know the lady but I do hope she pulls through OK.

Not to mention whatever other forces are at work eh!
While this is still a terrible situation to be in, it is good news to hear that there are improvements. May they continue and her status go from strength to strength. She certainly does sound like her will to survive and hang on in there is tremendous. My thoughts are with her and her family and friends as they watch over her through all this.
