While I was waiting in the doctor's the other day I was ready a poster about all the different kinds of cancer smoking causes. One caught me eye.

Anal cancer.

I guess the cancer causing chemicals do go down the throat and have to come out somewhere.

But seriously now .... good on you Captain Crunch :niceone:

Don't go for a ride to chillax/de-stress in Auckland city.
Just had conversation with a lovely police officer stating that it isn't a good idea retaliating to a tailgating fuckwit who tapped into the back of my bike at the lights in Mt Eden just before.
FFS...I didn't even hit him! I may have leaned in and choked him slightly but fuck!

Oh well...I think I may have been a bit fortunate so best pull my grumpy head in

There are a couple of 'Bullshits' to over look after giving the baccy up.
1: You dont save money.
2: There is no craving.
2: Taste does not magically return.
2: The morning cough stays with you.
2: Temper does not get out of control.

Note: All/Both accounts is my experience since being a non smoker. Some people may vary.

The act of driving into the back of a bike, is one of the things truly deserving of a "wee chat".

Strangely I felt a bit sorry for the guy (later on) as it was a full force hit to his throat and I'm not overly delicate, I'm a bit embarrassed too to be honest.
Agreed, a grumpy driver intentionally driving into the back of a motorcyclist after said motorcyclist motioned for him to stop tailgating is savage. All I could think of is if it was my daughter out on her scooter with a cunt like that bullying her.

Sounds a bit mean, but perhaps it will be good............ should be happy times anyway lol.
Can you get patch thingies free these days from quit line? I am one of the smarties who never started smoking, well tobacco at least, so don't have to worry about stopping.:shit:

Probably the last thing you need now is some arse of an ex-smoker to tell you how good it is to have stopped smoking and that it get's easier over time etc etc.

PS - a mate of mine once tried to give up smoking by substituting cabbage for the tobacco. He didn't leave the couch for weeeeeeeeeeeeks. In fact I think he ate the couch.

But seriously, ffolks. If you want to quit download Firefox and Quitzilla comes with it. It's a program that you load up and it charts your progress on a daily basis.

At the moment I'm

Cigarettes not smoked 22,279
Money saved $10.129.56
Milestone 3 years 8 months and 1 week
Last milestone 31,800 hours without a smoke

If you're serious about it the milestones might help with morale etc. It's worked for me anyway.

You dont 'save' the money, what you do is, you dont give it to the Tabacco Company's.
By now, I should have an extra $2,100 somewhere and clearly I have not.
The money goes on other things.

You do know they get less than 20% of the retail price for a pack of fags? Tariana Turia gets the lion's share and she's still not satisfied (mind you, would you ever be satisfied - hanging out with Pita & Hone?).

Right, I'm off for a fag in the rain.

My husband has gone from 1 pack a day to smoking roleys (rollies sp??)
$100 versus $25 per week - when I pointed out that difference in money could be applied to payments to upgrade his bike - he thought it was a great idea.
Another bonus is that he will smoke less, and hopefully quit one day.

And what is really great is that I can ride his new bike too

You have to reward yourself somehow when you give up, thats how I did it.

You are not wrong there Kitty....my reward after 30 years of being a chimney....

Brand New 2010 Kawasaki Ninja!

Best reward ever.
Should I ever succomb to the urge to smoke (and that urge is there), then I shall lose my bike.

Great incentive to stay free.....ride free!

Yeah, well I am pretty proud of myself too, just over 7 months and no desire to smoke. Given the stress I have operated under for the past few months, and particularly since Mom died, the thought did cross my mind that it might be easy to start back up again, thankfully nope, not even tempted. Fantastic to be free of the friggen habit!

You're not wrong there....it is sooooooooo easy to start again.

Imagine how much it would rip your throat and it would take at least 6 drags before you adjusted to the disgusting taste...then, you'd be hooked again! It's so not worth it!

Well done to all who have sucessfully beaten this horrible, but socialably acceptable, addiction!

Its been 5weeks and 2 days for me and cold turkey it was as after the doc telling me that I can't have patches or gum due too my medication,oh well I was ready in my own mind anyway and didn't have too buy smokes for the last month due to a wee stockpile:innocent: and was booked into the dentist for a clean on my chosen "give up smoking" date...

Only once have I really wanted a smoke and that was day 3 and now I enjoy seeing the bank funds increasing:yes: and only stopping on the bike when I need gas or have arrived at my destination, things have worked out for the best
