10.8.10 mid-arvo - I heard Jonno on The Rock doing a news story he made up. He also asked for feedback from the listeners.
So? You might well ask....
The story was that the govt and ACC is worried about, and tired of, all the money spent on fixing injured cyclists, without any levy payable by them. So in an effort to cut back on this spending, there is now a new law that prohibits cyclists riding on the roads 6 days a week. Sunday is the only day they can.
Food for thought eh?

It was a good show.
Loved the "caller" who will lead a protest to parliament... on his pushbike.
Go Jono!

I think only having cyclists on the road on a Sunday is a brilliant idea.
Alternatively, if they want to ride on the road any other day of the week then they should have to have at least a learners licence (or some sort of cert saying the know the road code) and pay road user charges.

How about never? I'd like that....
On second thought, banning cars on certain days in order to encourage more cyclists and m/cyclists would be an even better idea.

A terrible idea really. The lycra-clad toss pots would be all over the roads.

Calm down fella, me too - ok? :D
But wouldn't it be nice if there were less cars and more bikes on the road? Less congestion, better for the environment etc.

Or you could go this way: http://motrax.co.nz/shifta.html
If not on the road it could be an idea for a new bucket class!

It's been tried (well maybe not to encourage two wheelers, but...)
