Cheap current model superstock bike! You couldn't build it for this price. Suspension, exhaust, power commander/tuning, fairings and you're nearly half way there without even buying the bike.

To be fair it does seem abit steep considering what some other 1000cc racebikes have sold for ,and they have produced some results.

Sorry not being argumentative, it's just quiet (for a change) on nightshift so I got nuthin' better to do but exhaust my limited brain poer thinkin' of alternatives:

It's not cheap cheap but it's the cheapest way I can see someone getting a competitive Superstock bike. Unless you pick up a wreck, but they're harder to sell and you can't flog the trashed bits.

$5k suspenders
$800 for PC and tune
$800 for zorst
$1000 for fairings and paint
$600 rearsets

and the cheapest 08 cbr1000rr on TM has a zorst but hasn't met reserve at $14k (free bump, lol) so you are still looking at at about $22k. If Brad's throwing in some spares as well then you'd be nuts to build it yourself, especially as Brad has done all the hard work getting it set up (from experience it's easier said than done).

Sure there are cheaper classes to race in but $20k for a bike capable of winning the Superstock 1000 National's sounds pretty reasonable. You could even buy this and sell off the road gear for a coupla grand to pay for the Nationals campaign: sorted!

Results? The only Superstock 1000 with any results is Tony Rees R1, and waddayarekun it cost to put that on the track? Taking Tony outta the equation a CBR1000RR in Superstock trim is a superior bike.

A Superbike (vs Superstock) is not a fair comparison and a current model say Ray Clee bike is worth approx $45-50k to build. If you wanna compare a well used outdated ex Stroud/Bugden K7 GSXR you better factor in the head rebuild (not valve clearance, valve replacement) every 1500km's thanks to the big cams. I heard Blue Wing were after $35k for Craig's/Hayden's Superbike spec CBR1000RR's, which never had quite had the investment Suzuki put in....so Superbikes are a whole different animal.

Oh yeah, I've never even met Brad, so have no vested interest here. I'm just telling it how it is from doing my own sums when buying a new race bike .If you want a current model race bike your options are pretty limited and all of 'em cost $$$.
