I've never ridden this fast, never ridden anything that will go this fast, don't intend on riding things this fast. Etc and so on.

It can only be the work of a man who's adrenaline requirements are greater than a stopped heart, who's eyes are very very close together or has grown completely sick of life.

Very impressive. Some serious speed.

This one claims to have 499 hp....

Once you've ridden a large capacity turbo bike...you'll know why people build them mate!

Owned one. I had the original big CC turbo bike. A 1979 (they were actual 78's) ZIRTC. I learnt a lot about what not to do with them in the time I had it. Got it wrong quite a few times. In fact...the fucking engine mounts should've been on wing nuts I had the engine in and out so often.

When I took it to Australia with me in 92, I met some guys that knew what to do with turbo Zeds, and finally got it well sorted. When we'd finished with it, I could run as much as 20 lbs boost on (good) pump gas. Water and methanol injection, and probably over 200hp at the rear tyre. Here's a pic of it before I took it over there with me...oh...and what was it like to ride? Fucking terrifying. It'd wheel spin and wheel stand in top gear at the same time. Bend so hard it'd change lanes while doing so. It had cable operated front brakes (the master cyl was hidden inside the fairing), and was as safe as playing Russian roulette.

But I miss it, and wish I'd never sold it.215925

Heart has always wanted a supercharged thou. Brain says I got into plenty of trouble with a "normal" thou. Heart says brain is stupid :weird:

If only id spent all my effort turboing a late Gixer instead of a early boxer BMW, end result 90hp with 8psi. :( It probably wouldnt have been a lot harder.

Heh. Same here. Even though a normal thou had me just about packin' my pants.

Would be a bit tricky to get insurance cover for.... and no doubt you'd probably be able to singlehandedly keep a bike shop in business all year round through how many tyres you'd go through :devil2:

I notice it has a "Toppfart" of 320. Something to do with the exhaust note?:scooter:

I giggled when the camera bike is doing almost 300 (well, indicated) and he accelerates to pass... Bugger, the darn front wheel comes up every time :D

Indeed.
There's a guy in Mrka who's developed a complete bolt-on kit for the VFR (well... two kits; one for the '98 to '01, and another for the '02 - '09). It includes everything required: Rotrex supercharger, brackets, pulleys of the right size, a new CF plenum for the airbox, uprated fuel pump, custom map for the PC, etc etc. Cost is US$5k, which given that it nearly doubles the horsepower yet still keeps the bike reliable, is a bargain, and cheaper'n trading up to a bigger/faster bike (like, say the VFR1200, f'rexample). It takes the VFR from ~105hp to ~185, on a fairly modest amount of boost, and the bike looks stock, as the supercharger and all its gubbins are hidden beneath the bodywork. Unless the rider gets on the throttle, it rides like a very well sorted VFR (courtesy of better fueling). But open the throttle, and it will loft the front wheel in every gear.
I've seriously considered buying a kit, but I reckon I'd be unable to insure the bike. That's a fairly substantial negative...

Turbos....I got an old 750 turbo Kwakka (the younger bro to the TC) with a 'few' mods that will run 30psi boost and well over 200hp at the rear. Hasn't been going for a bit now (I destroyed the clutch when it stood up in top gear at the drags....long story), but when it was I owned a ZX12, the turbo made that feel like a pussy cat.
The guy that runs the www.750turbo.com website has a proper measured 212mph on his one with similar hp....busas.... pfffft.

Jebus. I have always liked the 800 but just felt like it was laking in punch a little, not that it doesnt have punch, just it could have a bit more. I think such a kit would solve the problem and once you up graded the suspension would make an awsome piece of machinery
