The victim had asked the driver if he could be dropped off at Brixton "just before Waitara."

"The defendant took offence to the way the victim had pronounced the word Waitara and told him he was white trash," Mr Sutton said.

The victim responded by telling O'Carroll: "Well I may not be able to speak Maori but at least I don't dress like Lady Gaga."

O'Carroll got out of his seat and punched his victim five times in the face before pinning him to his seat and throwing more punches.
Jeebus!

With the current 'justice system' the offender is probably going to be let off with a small fine at worst.

With the current justice? system the offender will get off because with a good Maori name like O'Carroll he was obviously in the right and was provoked by the victim!

How in the hell can you pronounce "Waitara" wrong anyway?

The victim obviously needs to be charged for such an "outrageous" offence against O'Carroll's "Maori culture".

This country is getting fucked over by a minority of dickheads!

Fair enough, there is a place near us named Tokarahi and the locals bend it to Tokaraki with the a sounding like "a" in axe!

I wondered why I could never find the place!

I object to these low cast "minorities" (Maori and Pakeha) mispronouncing both Maori and English and acting up all precocious when someone "insults their culture" FFS!

Half my grandkids are of Maori Pakeha extraction but they are as white as the driven snow to look at and to have some dick who has much less Maori blood in them but carry Maori features call them "honky white trash" pisses me off!

These "pretenders" (like O'Carroll in the article) are the "minority" that I refer to above that are (IMO) fucking this country over!

The so called justice system is doing the rest!

FFS, the likes of O'carroll really rip my nightie. I've spent a fair bit of time travelling & people help with pronunciation when you get it wrong. He needs an operation to pull his head out of his arse or a reserve to move too.

I remember being down in Invercargill and visiting Tuatapere. Of course i said "Tua-tah-pere" and got laughed at by the locals 'cos even the Maoris down there say Tua-taparee apparently. Ditto for Tap-u (and here was me thinking it was Tah-pu) down Thames way.

I wonder when they'll start beating up other Maori for mispronouncing their own place names. How long then before tribal wars start again?

She wouldn't need to call herself that if she just took time to learn to control her throat muscles

There is a man in the major leagues called "Albert Pujols".
I love hearing about how Albert Pooholes knocks another right out of the park..

A common mis-pronounced place name is Hanmer Springs.
Its almost always pronounced Ham-ner Springs instead of Han-mer Springs.

I dunno if mispronouncing White-tra is worth a punch in the head, but the number of times I've wanted to belt people for saying Tea-Ka-wat-ta instead of Te Kauwhata is incredible.
