Just wondering whether you absolutly need the little metal key tag to get spare keys made?
Sometimes secondhand bikes don't come with the little wee metal tag.
Cheers

It's not necessary to make copies of the key, but necessary if you've lost all your keys and you need to get a brand new set from <motorbike brand>
I just stash it with my original keys & documents.

Not sure if this is for your Kwaka .. but Honda keys are magnetically coded as per this thread.

The code number is VERY important

So if I have this right....
A locksmith can cut a new key, without an original key, using the code on the little metal tag. If you don't have the code then you'll need a key to copy.
But if you own a Honda with the HISS anti-theft thingo and you don't have an original key then your ***ked even if you have the code. This is because any new keys need to be programmed from an existing key.
Don't have an original key then you have to replace the whole ignition system, ECU etc...sounds expensive.

Every brand varies in its rules. Several now have a programming key (its not a normal extra key) plus a couple of normal keys. ECU's can "know" their keys, therefore, keys have to be added to its knowledge, as well as matching the barrel and acting like a normal key.
Just don't lose your keys... easy huh? :shifty:
