I've just recently completed an alloy plate of an RNZAF T-6 Harvard trainer in 1950's colours for a client. He sent me a photo as it was his favourite one and asked me to replicate with my 3mm alloy design.

This was computer-designed by myself from the b & w photo supplied . I sent the file to a friend who CNC machined this from alloy plate and sent it back to me. This then got anodised silver. Upon completion, I painted by hand the black lines and the red/white/blue roundels plus yellow trainer stripe.

Unfortunately, my photos weren't the best and don't do it justice. The colours are correct, just the flash on the camera makes them look too light.

Hey man, that looks pretty sweet!
What's the cost in CNC labour for that?

Quite reasonable ;) I mainly do CAD with alloy sheet, as my mate has a CNC router. Not as fine as a laser or water cutter, but quite good for this.
The aircraft is about 300mm long.

Nice.

Ever thought about making your own router?

There's heaps of plans out there...

Very impressive. Now you need to make a metre long one that can fly.

Very nice Nudey!
The panel lines must have provided some entertainment with the painting...

Nice Chris

A scale r/c model would be good.... and someone knows where they could get hold of a 5cyl radial motor for one too without too much effort :innocent:

could add this to the item too

The remains of a Havard shell are in Pahiatua domain216461, with a kids slide underneath, if anyone is looking for a full size unit.
