Political correctness gone mad: Police officers in Altringham, UK had to watch as thieves rode away with £20,000 worth of motorbikes from a showroom… because the thieves were not wearing helmets.
Officers were called to investigate reports of a break-in at the Manchester Motorbike Store on Woodfield Road on Thursday 12th August and spotted the three criminals leaving the scene on stolen bikes. But after checking for guidance, they were told not to pursue.
Graham Brady, the Conservative MP for Altrincham and Sale West said "This doesn't, in my view, reflect the priorities of the public who would like to see police giving chase when they see criminals in the process of committing a crime.”
Greater Manchester Police Superintendent Steve Nibloe responded "Greater Manchester Police follows a nationwide policy which gives clear guidance that motorbikes should not be pursued because of the higher risk of injury to the rider.”

what i was trying to say is that the police can't win.
the media (and general public) would be up in arms about the police chasing them and putting their lives and the lives of others in danger.

Yeah man all these fucking expat poms about these days. We should ship them all back home and leave NZ with the original Maori au.
I also love the way every single poster in this thread has ignored a key line in the article:
"Two men were later arrested."
If the policy completely removes the thread a chase poses to the public while at the same time leading to the arrest of the majority of the culprits with a good chance of catching the third now they have his associates, then it can't be as bad as some are making out. Don't get me wrong, I think it's a retarded policy, but the police still seem to doing a pretty good job.

.
I have no idea how you arrived at that. Bob's didn't neither did mine.
Most of the subsequent posts are concerned with xenophobia, homosexual fantasising, or macho posturing. Only in so far as the fact that none of them mention the fact of the apprehensions are you correct. Then again only a few of us seemed particularly interested.
Anyhoo, apprehended or otherwise, I still think the cops should chase crooks everytime.
Unless it's me. :ride:

Awesome, once again highlighting why the UK is going down the shitter, they are their own worst enemy. Political correctness will be the death of the UK.

it sounds crazy but i dont see why thats a problem if you think about it, i think its a good policy, in the end they caught 2 of them and will no doubt get the 3rd, they are still alive, and most likely the bikes are still in 1 peice, the end result sounds better than 3 dead and 3 demo`d bikes which no one wins. the policy they (and definitly here) need to up 10 fold is the punishment for the crime.
