I know so many of them do it (tristanK) :S I hate them ... But hey if it looks good to them its ok with me.

But wouldnt that get you pulled over becuase your not allowed blue lights visible from behind or sumin, so make sure your careful at night.

nice video btw :niceone:

So you got your lights sorted out then? Good stuff.

It's only illegal if the actual bulbs are visible, otherwise the coppers can't do shit. The only law that prohibits them is that you are only aloud specified colour bulbs for your vehicle (white, yellow and red) but if the bulb is no visible to passing/following traffic then its not illegal.

I think one of the reasons why people like the LED lights (maybe mostly 250 riders) is because its proberly one of the easiest modifications to do on your bike, don't need much experience or anything (not that I did my own... so no I'm not making a dig before anyone gets there back up)

I think it looks kewl anyway :)

[Edit] Yeah I got mine installed by a guy at work. I only have one 20cm bulb with 4 smaller bulbs inside. The installation was neat and tidy and very well done... unfortunatly, you can only notice the glow if your actually looking for it... otherwise it's not very noticeable... I think I'd need a second bulb to get a decent glow... lol but I've run out of things to bribe the IT guy with at work to get him to install a second bulb... lol

That's the first time I've seen illumination like that on a bike. Seen the odd car, but that's it. I'll save judgement on it until I see it in the flesh. How legal is it?

Fair enough, cops love bikers anyway.

Yes the lights do add an astheitc value to the bike, and in most cases if placed in the right way it can look rather tasty, I thinking hooking up a big set of the LED around the bike and hooking it up to the horn would be fun...

That would really scare them cagers. :cold:

See my post above about how legal it is :)

Also check this out... if I had US$100 I'd be installing this:

Interesting. I wonder if it will catch on here.

Why whats the law there on it? Is it illegal? Or does it depend on the state?

Good question. I don't know what the law is on it. At this stage I have only seen the odd car, but no bikes 'lit up'. States do differ on laws.

True, Australia does have a lot fo weird laws concerning bikes... which of course differ by state...

Back to the original topic...

I like the LED lights in the farings of the bike... that looks really nice... Are those the single LED lights off TradeMe?

dont waste your money and fuck expensive CNC machining for your LED's.

check these out its what you need.

http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/Car-parts/Interior/auction-28493186.htm

you get four of the things in the pic for $18. Look at my video and compare the lighting on the rear and the lighting around the engine...

You'll be surprised to know that the $20 is on the rear, and the $100 neon tube setup is on the front...

He says they arent waterproof, but i've found that unless you intend on spraying it with highpressure water the clip together casing does a pretty good job.

Also the LED's last longer, are brighter and much more discreet.

I just wired all the positive leads together through a switch to the battery, all the negatives are earthed to the frame.

i checked the LTSA website recently

see here (http://www.landtransport.govt.nz/vehicle-safety/get-your-lights-right.html)

from the site:

Fitting requirements
Cosmetic lamps can be any colour as long as they meet the following requirements.

They must be angled downwards and fitted so that the light source isn’t directly visible from the front or back of the vehicle (this will prevent the lights distracting, confusing or dazzling other road users). See diagram below.

-You must not be able to see the light source (lamp) from anywhere in the shaded zone.
-They should only give off light that is spread out (diffuse) rather than light concentrated in a beam.
-They must not be positioned close to essential lights such as headlights or indicators.
-They must not flash, pulse, fade in and out or change colour.
-They must not revolve, rotate or move in any direction.

basically as long as your source light is well hidden you are sweet... unless you wanna be a gay ass boy racer with flash colour change ones - thats just not cool

Sweet, I wasn't far off with my theory on the law...

The guy at work that set up my LED for me connected the LED to the back brake light and earthed it to some screw that gave him the right number on his little electro reading thingy under the passanger seat (I'm not very switched on with electrical stuff... lol thats why I didn't do it myself). The bulb is attached to a bar on the frame of the bike visible when you take the riders seat off... fits really nice under there... It's a perfect job except for the shitty cheap bulb I brought off TradeMe (not the same as the one you just showed above). I think mine would look better with 2 bulbs or just one good decent bulb.

The ones in the engine look choice... But I'm not sure if I'd want to install it myself lol, and also I'm planning on taking my farings off and giving my bike an all over clean (I don't think it's had a real inner and outter clean the whole time I've owned it and the person before me...) before I go adding stuff in there...

I had neons back on my GSX last year, never had problems with the cops,
On my ZXR I'm planning a complete paintjob, chromed wheels, 1 Watt LEDS with a custom controler, and a LED based rev counter that goes
green (1,000rpm to 14,000 RPM)
blue (14,500 to 17,500 RPM)
yellow (18,000 19,000)
RED from then on
Pretty cool eh?

John

heaps of those 'devices' floating around.

Just remeber when you get your full you wont want a 250 - and buy repainting and chroming etc you loose money.... FYI.

what kinda difference did you notice between your gixer and the zxr?
I took my m8s gsxr for a ride before but that was a year ago atleast and i dun remeber much of it (and he flicked it off to get a bigger bike). Just wondering how the two compare, cheers :niceone:

i've taken them off for the meantime. One neon rod broke which fucked me off, other than that the LED casings are getting too dirty so until i get some silicon in them they are not a part of my bike.
