i have a free site account with weebly. it gives a limited number of page designs, but says they can be edited colorwise by the owner. i want to change the color of my background, but have no idea how. its done in http and css codes, which i cant make head or tail of.

also, i was looking at upgrading to pro. im assuming its in USD. is $70USD for 2 years good? [$3/month]

for pro you get

Password-protected pages
Remove or Customize Weebly footer
10 sites per account
100 MB file uploads
Audio player
Video player new!
Embedded documents new!
A $50 Google AdWords™ credit*
Premium Support

most of the extras i wouldnt use, but the video player would be kool.

thanks in advance!

if you can access the html then add something like this to your body tag

bgcolor="#ffffff" so you'll end up with this

<body bgcolor="#ffffff">

where #ffffff is the hex code for the colour you want

or, if you can access the css then add a style something like this

body{
background-color:#ffffff;
}

thanks for that. i couldnt see bgcolor anywhere on the http, but i found this on css

body {
margin: 0 auto;
padding: 0;
font: 76% Verdana,Tahoma,Arial,sans-serif;
background: #f4f4f4 url(bg.gif) top center repeat-y;
}

#wrap {
background: #ffffff;
color: #303030;
margin: 0 auto;
width: 760px;

i want to make the background light purple or blue. if you click on the link in my sig, you can see what the site looks like currently.

thanks again!

edit: well, i did something. now its light goldenrod on white, lol, and the titles seem to have gone kakapo, which is the other color i picked. will keep on fiddling.

thanks berries. i found a site and did some changes. now, its much brighter! but i cant see how to remove the grey from the sides. its ok though... i love how much brighter it is. much more interesting than white on white.

What happens if you change your content width, does that reduce the amount of grey background ?

A couple of free resources for learning CSS -

http://www.hostm.com/css/
http://www.w3schools.com/

The best thing to do is just view your live page, right click and view page source. You'll see all the relevant CSS and should be able to find what you need to change.

ooo, thanks berries. i never thought about changing the width. i will have a read of those sites. thanks so much! :yes:

thanks mom... its a better addiction that drugs, though it probably costs the same, lol.
i got sick of trying to find a comprehensive site when i bought a near complete thomas collection easter 09. so i researched on ebay and tomy sites so see what engine came with what wagons and then made my collection match.
i just wish there was more info on the really vintage engines... tomy started the range in the 60s i think, but theres no info out there. it doesnt help that a lot of ebayers pass similar engines off as tomy, but you cant tell until you buy as they dont put a photo of the underside up.
