Hi, my KTM 200exc has a rattling noise coming from the motor somewhere. I dont have a clue what it is. I would describe the noise as the same noise a loose rattling kick start makes. Doesnt make the noise when idling though, just when revved.
Any Ideas what it could be?
I appriciate any help

Ahh, well a rattling noise. That's easy to diagnose over the internet, clearly it's your defimbulator & they all do that nothing to worry about. Is that what you wanted to hear?
Well tough. ok aside from the obvious if you kneel down beside the bike & touch various objects to see that it isn't a loose mount or something then it is internal.
You may be able to determine what you need to take apart, presumably the top end is prime candidate. When was the last time it was overhauled?
right.
Could be anything, but if it is a bearing, or if it is a powervalve that has come loose then it could very likely cause untold damage. Best strip it down & have a looksee & look at what needs replacing anyway.
2 strokes are simple & cheap to overhaul, but any competition bike needs to have it's service done or trouble will come a knocking. Just be thankful it isn't a modern 4 stroke.
