Hi

Globetrotter Challenge
It is an interesting event in that it differs slightly from the normal rally by way of the rally site being unknown and to get there, one has to follow a set of instructions to arrive at the venue. The instructions are very easy (has to be otherwise riders could get lost) and riders get a chance to cover some interesting roads they would probably never experience. A competitive element is thrown into the equation as average speeds are set out over the 2hr ride to the rally site (starting from Timaru) and these are recorded. Trophies and prizes are up for grabs, both for individuals and teams (3 members). This is optional but most riders attempt it as not only does it create a friendly and humorous rivalry between the riders, it adds to the whole experience of the rally. Once at the site, the normal rally format kicks in and everybody settles in for the night socialising with karaoke and other activities to keep one amused. Every rider receives a rally badge and an evening meal is thrown in free for good measure, the organisers trying their best to look after everybody and create a friendly personal type rally. As such rally registrations have to be organised by the 12th September, refer to Kiwibiker event calendar for contact details under Globetrotter Challenge 25/26th September, or go to www.bronz.org.nz event calendar to download an entry form.
As described by one past and regular entrant, it is one of the best kept secrets in the rally scene and unfortunately if it does get too big, the organisers will have to start limiting numbers, but thats not the case yet......
