I was suprised hardly anyone was out today???
I worked this morning and the weather has been so shitty I haven't had a chance for a ride in five weeks. But today the weather broke this afternoon and it was time to take Black Beauty for a run.

Lots of slips along the Kaiuau coast and lots of riverlets across the road especially on the corners which made for some fun riding. Madness informs he saw me twice. He would have been one of the very few bikes I spotted but didn't realise it was him.

I managed 300kms and had a ball and though I thought I would be out of practice I actually found myself well in "the zone" for much of the ride. Man it was cool and I loved every minute of it.

Whoops.... now I've said it, let the fun begin :)

Was watching my sons soccer game at Rosmini College, Takapuna and the weather was crap but saw about 15 or 20 bikes, big tourers, in a group heading towards the motorway.. hardy soles I thought.

If you class loose rutted / potholed seal, tar blead, cowshit, squashed animals, mud & i'll say it again.... rivers of cowshiiiiit + sheep droppings as part of the 'zone' then i was well & truly in it yesterday. Only saw one bike.

Felt great to get out with the bike for the day, really looking forward to summer tho.

I was in the zone too, unfortunately that consisted of mowing the lawn, not quite the zone I really wanted to be in... would prefer beyond's one.

LOL, bit risky taking the cam into the bedroom. You get some thief nicking it and the next minute it's all over Utube. Mind you, instant fame :)

I'm slowly coming round to going zoning but every time I think it's action stations it pisses down again, frankly I don't be trusting the Taranaki weather gods just yet, we had four seasons in one day on Friday man. I love the 'ZONE' but not the cold/wet/hot/dry/wet /cold/hot /hail/gale/wet/hot zone  I can wait a bit.

I can understand that. I actually don't mind riding in the rain etc but won't do so by choice. If you're caught out in it fair enough but the cleanup afterwards is not worth it :(

Hey, what bike do you like riding the most... the GSX1400 or the Harley?

Hey, what bike do you like riding the most... the GSX1400 or the Harley?

Cripes, there's a question. I can only give you a bit of an ambiguous answer in that each time I throw a leg over one of them, I can instantly see the merits of each writ large on my giggle meter.

For example: each time I take the fourteen out, I am instantly aware of what an insanely quick and competent bike it is, the bastard takes of like a bleedin rocket but is still incredibly comfortable and purposeful.

The Harley/Buell : full of character with noise and vibration, odd engineering odd looks but very involving, it's like trying to train a Bull mastiff to eat nicely, every session is strangely engaging despite some obvious flaws, still very quick covering ground mind you.

A stupid analogy would be, one is a trained competent and smooth Olympic runner and the other is a desperate yoof running from the Law, both get a bloody shift on when required but in very very different ways, supreme competence and confidence or mad as a box of frogs with attitude. Logic dictates that the 14 is better in every way and if I could only have one bike that would have to be it because it does everything so well. Fortunately I don't have to choose between them cause I would miss either one way too much.

I haven't really answered your question have I, never mind, variety is the spice of life, I love both and I shall sit firmly on the fence on this one. :shifty:

Took myself over the hill to Havelock today, found that zone on the way home, only briefly but hell the smile I wore was enough to generate the zone for 50 others. :sunny:

After four months off the bike finaly got a chance to blow off some cobwebs today.I thought that after such a long break I would be wobbly as hell. But was not the case, by the time I hit the 100km/h zone everything just fell into place. What followed was 200km of pure magic.
The only blemish on the ride was 10km from home when some clown in a light truck pulled out off a side road when I was only 20m away from the intersection. Fortunatly I had been watching him for the previous 100m with a voice in my head saying ' he aint gonna give way'.So instead of becoming a mess on his tailgate the only damage was done when I grabbed a handfull of his wing mirror on my way past. Oops I didnt mean to, honest.:innocent:

Thanks for answering that. Yep, I see where you are coming from. Be nice to have the coin to have more than one steed in the garage :)
The 14 is such a great all rounder though and the low down punch is pretty cool.

Course we can mate. Every biker I saw on Saturday, waved back at me :) There weren't very many around though.

Don't use Pirelli Angel ST's on GSX1400's cos they don't last long.

Check your oil before every ride :)
