Well, recieved my new Stebel Magnum horn in the post today from Warlock. Managed to fit it in just over 15 minutes.
No replacement parts or brackets needed, just affixed it straight onto an existing bracket on my 07 Speed Triple by the water pump feed.
I started up the bike, and tested the horn............ music to my sweet, now deaf little ears lol.......
WARNING, open the garage door first lol.
1000 times better than my existing stock bleeper, no turning back... I do query though how much louder the nautilus is as it's supposed to be even louder still...
Highly recommend getting one of these, the sound is awesome and loud.:gob::gob::gob::gob::gob::gob::gob::gob::gob: :gob::gob:

The magnum (one you bought) sounds better (lower pitched and more like a train) to me than the nautilus. good price too from fastbikegear.co.nz

They are effective on older car drivers and young boy racer types, they dont know where the fuck the noise has come from and hit the picks, leaving you enough room to safely ride by.

I put a pair of FIAMM horns on the Hornet. Very loud but still sounded like a bike.
There wasn't enough room on the VFR for a Nautilus, but there is on the Duc
The Nautilus is loud but not specifically bike sounding. When Nadroj gets around to fitting his Magnum I must get him to give a demo...

I had the stock bleeper, it's noise was like saying "um, excuse me".
I have had someone changing lanes when I was beside them, they ignored my horn and I had to brake and fall in behind them.
Then I got the Stebel Nautilus, its noise is like saying "OI, WATCH THE FUCK OUT!"
I've yet to have another motorist ignore my horn since I changed it.
The only thing I have lost is the ability to give a polite beep, but the sacrifice is totally worth it!

I hear you all, the horn is flamin awesome....
I had to use it on the way to work this morning too, coming through Warworth, on that bloody treacherous insane piece of roadworks..... The lanes aren't especially clear and just south of the first phase of lights, a little old lady in her cage was coming straight towards me in my lane. She was driving next to another car, she obviously thought it was flippin 2 lanes..... So I barrelled my BLAZER BURRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGHHHH HHHHHHHH!!!!!!!! and by F%$# she moved like "Moses parting the red sea"!
The driver next to her was just as shocked and just about hit the kerb letteing her in.
Of coarse it was all my fault...... got shaking fist and a pair of fingers from the old bitch!!!!!!!! she probably keeled over in a heart attack after that, and good job!
(Yes, no grace from this God Botherer today, just thankful heart I got my STEBEL MAGNUM, God Bless Stebel, maker of f$#@ing loud horns that keep bikers alive!)
.
IF YOU DON"T HAVE ONE, GET ONE, IT WILL SAVE YOUR LIFE! I will load a pic tomorrow. Easy as to fit.

That's the enigma of horns on motorcycles these days.
They're not used as a safety device - they're just a 'fuck you' device.

And what a "F$#@ YOU" device it is too.... I do concede that today I was looking for any opportunity to give her a BLAST!!!!!! however I am sure the novelty will wear off and it will be a practical tool that will cause cagers, (and those ignorant cyclists schmoozing dairy flat roads in early ours of the am on weekends) to think twice about pulling out and writing me and my bike off.....:2guns::2guns::2guns:

I can't remember the last time I used my horn. Probably because I know how ineffective it is there isn't any point using it (or I just move out of the way of the cage lumbering into my space).
I might get me one. Would be good if they had two modes (eg. half horn button in = warning. full horn button pushed in = Krakatoa)

The OP has a speed triple and said how much louder the stebel horns are. I thought my speed triple was much louder than the SV, so if the stebel is that much louder again - it should be like a The Who concert!

For those few who say, "Nah.... it's not much louder than the standard horn!", it's probably because you really need to install it with a relay (and thicker wires to the relay) to get it working properly. Even the standard 'peeper' will benefite from getting a decent power supply.
The other side of the coin is that for some aftermarket horns, if you just replace the OEM horn with them without adding a relay or better wiring, they will draw more current than the standard horn, and all this goes through your standard horn button. Eventually, the contacts will more'n likely be fubar.

First time I usede my stebel magnum was yesterday and twice in about 1 minute.
Old bag pulls right out in front of me, thru a give way. I was sheltered by two left turning cars but she should have waited. Next car does the pull onto the flush median thing so as to get into lane... that I was using. Both got a good blast. Certainly heard it, so did some pedestrians that turned around. It's way betterer than my beep beep stock horn. I'm chuffed with it.

You were in the lane and he actually tried to move into the lane on top of you - or you thought he was going to?

Oops sorry, Friday afternoon itis! I was riding in the lane. She pulled out from other side of the road turning the same way I was riding and pulled onto the flush median, I hit the horn which kept her on the median or she would have pulled into the lane... and onto me.

Hmmm, I am looking at a Nautilus horn after a few scares recently involving prats driving on the wrong side of the road.....
Do the Nautilus horns need a mounting bracket made up to fit them, and does it take long to install the relay etc?

Mounting the horn isn't that hard, it just needs to be firmly held in place wherever it fits OK. The relay is small and light and is easily hooked up. It isn't quite as easy as just plugging it in - it isn't a standard device for the bike, but it isn't really all that much work to get the sucker mounted somewhere.
The Nautilus is pretty effective, it's really hard for someone not to notice it. My factory horn could be ignored, but that never seems to happen with the Nautilus.

Just fitted a Stebel Magnum. Straight swap on my OEM bracket, same for wiring. Whole job took less than ten minutes. Not as loud as the Nautilus but WAY louder than pathetic beep from the Triumph unit.
Great service from Fastbike Gear too, ordered over the net at 3:00pm thursday and on my desk by 8:30am Friday, can't ask for better than that. Great stuff.

STUPID QUESTION but:
Does this horn simply replace the existing one or do you need to wire an amplifier to a new fuse etc?

From what I understand, the Magnum horns just replace the old ones and fit straight onto the old mounting bracket etc, but the Nautilus ones need to be hooked up to the battery via a relay and are slightly larger so need to be fit via another mounting bracket.
I don't have one yet so I could be wrong, however I am keen to get one... 139db will make people think twice about potentially putting me in danger with their driving :devil2:

It does fit straight on easy, Mine didn't fit the existing mount bracket, though I just fastened it to where the cooler hose attaches to the engine. Took all of 5 minutes. A relay will increase the output as well, though the sound is fine without one. It's awesome.

I'm not sure why but on my bikes I had to install a relay with my magnum; it's not a very hard job though.
I definitely can't compare it to my stock horn, it's rediculous: I can't even imagine a nautilus.
Got mine through fastbikegear for a great price and on my door 24hours after ordering :Punk:

Just ordered one from fastbikegear too!
At $36, they're a real bargain. I understand they're now an end of line product as the new model has better waterproofing.
Funny thing is that they're listing them on Trademe and selling for more than than their $36 website price.
Perceived bargains can be expensive!

Both horns have their benifits. I am told the nautilus is the louder, and it is definately so. However I appreciated the smaller size of the magnum and the easier fitting.
My magnum like others fitted strait on to existing mounts and wiring. Though I opted to relocate its position to simply putting it onto another bolt off the water pump housing.
It's way loud and if I put a relay on it would be louder still. Happy as it is though, it gets me attention like a regimental army attn. Boooraaaagh!

If you can access the existing horn bracket, then it's easy on any bike at all.
