Where to stay in Auckland?

I'm going on a block course at AUT this coming weekend and I'm looking for a reasonably priced place to stay within a short walking distance of St Paul St, so let me know if anything springs to mind.

Let your fingers do the walking.... Have a look at youth hostels or backpackers in town. Probably be the cheapest option for the city.

Just down the road is cheap eats if you like Turkish food, Chinese duck house next door too, both opposite The Civic, next to ASB.

Not sure about places to stay, but K Road hostels are cheaper, have more Kiwis and more counter culture. City hostels have more backpackers, and Swedish girls:innocent:

YMCA was cheap from recall.
Likewise backpackers are around $30 night or something.
