Hahahaha, remember the photo of the kiwi over in Oz who was snapped riding home with a BBQ over his body? (Can't remember where that thread is) He was sentenced today - fined A$800 and lost his license for a month.

To add insult to injury the cooker, which he picked up from the side of the road, didn't work. (Gee, I wonder why it might have been left out there in the first place....)

Bet the Ozzies are having a laugh at our expense. Who could blame them?

Give him credit though, he admitted it was a bit stupid and took full responsibility (proof that it does happen!). He even turned down an offer for an advertising campaign because he thought it would glorify irresponsible actions... at least, that's his story.

nice story...shame he got sprung though. Some would have argued about what was unsafe - he looked like he had full control of his bike - but maybe not. Too many spoilsports in this world.

turned down a advertising deal with a barbecue firm

That's the first thing he's done that I have issues with.
I've transported drunks more dangerous than that BBQ trick.

I've transported a clothes rack on the back my bike ... was a bit funny to see this happen to him.

The biggest thing I've ever put on my bike was a 10kg bag of chicken feed on the fuel tank. It made for an interesting ride home.

The bit about the Judge's comment which got me was, 'I've even seen bits of wood sticking out of cars!'

That's a good funny. I transport all manner of wood and things around in my lil MX5. On one occasion I transported a 300ltre aluminium fuel tank strapped on behind the seats (hood down) and shat myself for the entire 30K drive knowing some cop would find fault. All I could envisage was some cop stopping me and demanding I leave my tank on the road-side, then getting some huge value ticket for some offence made up on the spur of the moment. But the fact was, the can 1500X 600X 500 weighing about 30Kgs, was strapped down totally.

I imagined a cop going on about what would happen if I slammed into a solid object. The can would break its restraints, fly off into the distance and probably kill a concerned mother of five, with four of who she was concerned about going with her.

Me asserting, 'But I have zero intention of hitting anything,' would have been met with the usual...'Ah, but you never know what's just around the corner.'

'But I don't give a fuck for what might be around the corner on account of I drive at a speed to deal with that.'

'Do you really? Ha ha. Here's the ticket. $400 for an insecure load. By the way. Leave it on the roadside. Have a nice day.'

As it happened I didn't see a cop during the entire journey. :--))

So the old judge ain't seen anything yet.

Let total safety in all respects prevail. Do not get out of bed.

I can see the new campaign now:

Wood Kills!
only get wood in the appropriate vehicle, you'll last longer.

Maybe they should venture to india and see what the lug around over there...... Mate, this guy is a legend, he should be proud of his accomplishment.....
Now if he had 4 kids, a chicken coop and 20 chickens on board, I'd be impressed.

Guess he copped a bit of heat and got his butt fried by the local bacon and a grilling in court to boot.

She'd get done for being tanked while minding children.
