Im not sure its an issue yet but im sure its not right, just putting the KX5 back together. I have replaced the clutch basket (outer) Its all bolted up etc, I have tighten down the pressure plate and noticed the inner hub can spin, not real easy but by hand

Pretty sure that would be too loose.... I will either put some larger steels in, some new springs or prob a whole clutch kit....

My main question before I put the cover on is that is too loose aye? That inner hub shouldnt spin that easy as that is where you get your drive from or when the oil is in will that make it grip?

I personally think the clutch pack is too loose..

What he said.....if it's spinning you won't have any drive, the oil only lubricates and cools the clutch, doesn't magically supply grip.









I actually agreed with a Tron dweller, what was I thinking??? :blink:

Did you put the steel/fibre plates back in correctly?
If you swap the order, you'll get your problem.

Yup I think the easy fix is a thicker clutch plate or two

Unlikely.
What can happen is the steels get too smooth and the fibres get glazed.
Try a sheet of 1200 wet'n'dry on a flat surface, then rub both sides of all plates on it to fix the above.
And ensure that the plates go into the basket in the right order.
If the clutch didn't slip like crazy before, then it's not over-worn plates.

ahhhh found the problem! There was a washer/spacer that had to go under the inner hub thus raising the inner hub and tightening up the clutch pack yus!

Was going to say sounded like you had missed something out or put in wrong place as new basket being aftermarket or not shouldnt make any diff to how it ends up going to gether least you got it sorted
