Qualifying: Interesting for sure, Rossi still struggles, his replacement at Yamaha next year shines.
Stoner didn't look to happy and results show he's down on where you might expect him to be while Hayden looked great. Lorenzo solid performance.
Discuss...

I'll discuss it alright. Spies FTW!!!!

Unfortunately there's no points for qualifying but he's obviously got good pace and hopefully can run at that pace from early in the piece.

Agreed, he was outstanding, hope it carries through to races end as well. He's gonna be a force to be reckoned with on a factory bike, maybe not straight away but eventually.

I knew Spies was going to do well when i heard after Brno that he had felt the bike go fast and now knew how it should feel...that could only mean he was getting into the zone...my guess is once you are there then you know how to get there and that can only mean he will be faster and more consistant then he has been.....

he is a fantastic rider and a good fit for Yamaha, good to to have a Yank up there...

Could Spies be the first satellite rider to win a race since Elias pipped Rossi by 0.002 seconds at Estoril in 2006? :sunny: Which incidently was a fantastic race, there's a video on youtube. Also the race where Wee Man took out Hayden, you can vividly see the rage on his face! Definitely rooting for Elias in Moto2, go that man. Top rider and personality, been cheering for him all year. Fingers crossed he picks up a ride in MotoGP next year... perhaps the spot Spies is going to vacate?

That train might've already left the station? Crutchlow seems to be the choice for Tech 3.

During qualifying today the commentary team raised the question as to whether there was something different under the plastic on Spies' bike. I think when Rossi announced his departure to Ducati, Yamaha gave Spies Rossi's bike and vice versa.

Yes, an interesting theory. Makes you wonder, does it not?

If that is the case - I hope Rossi manages to win on that Desmo from the get go..

Is there a similar case going on with Stoner - he had good pace at practise but dropped off a bit come qualifying. Or are we reading into it all a bit much. Its just set up issues - thats all!:innocent:

Actually I'm surprised that Yamaha has not put Rossi on the bench for the rest of the season - Japanese honor etc.

Bet they have him on a lemon.

Not too shabby for someone who was only ever gonna be a superbike rider!

Not a bad guess Carbon, Spies put on a good show in his homeland.
My hero had three offs for the weekend but as usual raced well. G.

Given his recent difficulties and the difficulties everyone was having he did pretty well, Spies was a legend. What the fuck happened to Edwards? (i know what happened supposedly) Disappointed there. Hope Spies can keep up this kind of form for the rest of the season and pick up another podium or two.
Everyone was feeling the heat for sure, to be fair Spies probably looked the freshest after the race which should'nt be surprising since he comes from big ol' Texas where it's hot as atm too.

I read some where that he was pretty close to Peter Lenz. Not sure if he knew that Peter had died before the race but that has got to play on your mind. He sounded absolutely gutted when they interviewed him about his DNF.

Interesting, you're right though, he did sound absolutely gutted so he wasn't very happy with what happened either. This sort of stuff doesn't put him in a very strong position for negotiations of the contract though..

:o I think my exact phrase was "just another superbike banger" Oh well can't be right all the time and you have to remember that I was trying to light your touchpaper at the time... with spectacular results I might add

Never pays to write Rossi off does it? Lets hope he hits the ground running with Ducati.

The Beeb had an interview with Kaycee where he was bitching about all the nasty ruffians punting him around in the first few laps... somebody really needs to tell him to STFU.

Bautista's looking quite impressive on the Suzuki... maybe a "proper" bike next year?

Hahaha...indeed! Still...don't matter about right and wrong. Just great for the sport in general. Next year should be a ripper.

I hope Rossi goes well on the Ducati...but I doubt he's got another title in him with Lorenzo around. That guy is too much at the mo.

Stoner needs to sort himself out for sure.
