Shit that's starting to get up there a bit for a place that only has one loop that rarely gets any up keep. Good for beginners etc up the top paddock at Thunder but there's probably more challenge in the tracks out the sandpit and the tracks are better looked after.
I hope for that he's made a couple of new loops etc.
Just my 2c I know he's had it hard lately!

Cool. I plan to go a few times this season. I prefer clay tracks, so the times I don't go up to the farm I'll do here and the charity ride events.

He put the prices up earlier this year I think it went from $20 to $25 then for the guys? Surely he's not up'd it another $5 already.
Must say though when the family goes it still only costs John as kids and I are free (well were - may hafta check it out).
We've got a friends boy who has just got his 1st bike so perfect place to take him to learn up in the learners paddock.

Sandpit is twice as far away as thunder for us, but I dont like thunder if theres been a lot of rain
Went for a ride last saturday and my leg didnt fall off, so might venture up to the sandpit if its been really wet

thunder is nice for a change and as all have said brilliant place for learners 30bucks is adding up a bit but it was crazy cheap at 20 , hopefully they have done some more work on the tracks and mx track must be very wet in there now .Still cheaper than kimmys

Well done old fellah, I was beginning to wonder when you'd get back on your nag. Did you manage to convince Noobi to ride as well?

I dont understand why the girls are free they work for money just like the boys and can make just as much mess of the track. $30 is still cheap you cant do much for that these days.
Hope tracks are marked and gates are open this year.

I thought Thunder was for sale. I know it went to Auction. Did it sell, are there new owners?

Last time me and Krad went we split the bill, if you want a cheap ride get some girl mates along :)

The for sale signs were up when last there - can't remember if it was prior to auction though.

Yep, we had a discussion ( between the two of us) and it was unanimous that we know more than the doctors...
We both rode /

Just spoke to him. James is still there and still own's the farm but he's just looking after the MX side if things now, Ladies are still free. He has to wait for the weather to come right but has plans to maintain the existing and for some new tracks etc. So hopefully we won't loose James or this facility because its got new owners. I don't know him well enough to ask about his future plans but as far as I know Thunder is all go for the summer.
Although at 30 bucks at thunder after riding all winter at the sandpit I quite like the sand, whoops and the challenge of the tress and hill climbs now!
Looks like unless I'm taking my daughter out I'll still be heading for the sandpit at $25 bucks quite regularly over summer. I think the increase in price at Thunder will only get you more business Ktmboy. Each facility is about the same travel time for me.

Ah Thundercross, such fond memories of last October. First day of ever owning an MX bike. I puttered up a pretty sedate little trail - then realised it was the driveway to the peewee track haha. Great area for an absolute beginner while my experienced mates were flying round the wet clay.
Then got back to the car to find one of the guys had locked the keys in the boot. What a great day.
Now that I can actually ride I look forward to checking out more than just the peewee track once the weather has dried up a little more. It is certainly a bit of a drive but can't complain having permanent ride options.

You wont find to many harder hill climbs then what can be found at Thunder. (If you go off track of course some great fun to be had. Not the best advise i know but there isnt really a set track its like the desert at desert storm.)
Spikedpunch, i had chick mates to ride with they got boy friends now so there bikes collect dust. haha

LOL!!! Yeah man go the cow poo stains .
In seriousness tho I thought the whole girls ride free thing was a mixture of not many females riding - comparatively to the boys anyway ( this is based on my own observations from like 4 years ago when we went) and chivalry - When we went to Thunder (as noobs) our kids had some chinese bikes helmets and gumboots, James saw this and rode up to his house n got the kids some of his kids boots to wear - I was totally impressed
