NCR Desmosedici, budget aside of course...
Plus, imagine the women this thing will attract... There'd be a different pleasure resulting from that...

Funny fella with a funny poll.
Best.
My bike was the BEST bike I could buy with my $ at the time I purchased it. Is it a BEST bike? Presently to me it is, but I am pretty sure at least one other reader will tell me I'm wrong
Mind you it cannot have been the WORLDS BEST BIKE as I have been smuggling little trinklets into the shed for it since I purchased it.

Rouge Ridder excelled himself with that effort.
Never ride anything you can't spell. Perhaps that explains the popularity of BMWs and KTMs?

My bike was the BEST bike I could buy with my $ at the time I purchased it.
When I bought my 919 price was a factor but not the be all and end all. It was what I thought was the best bike for me at that time. If I had the spare cash I'd still have one, and a CBR600 and a VFR1200 and....

Well, its not my fault lol, it only let me have 14 lines. I wanted Norton, and all the rare breeds, but not enough choices.
I love the new Norton, I hope they release a full production model along side the race bike.
I put aside budget: because alot of people put cheap as best, but budget can also mean affordable, not cheap, or it can reflect quality....
People have different opinions and I like hearing them, feel free to post the options. I am collating data for an assignment, so all info will be useful.

KTM is also missing.
Yamaha first closely followed by Kawasaki. Kind of a pointless question really coz you're gonna vote for your favorite and that's down to your own perception of things. There no Suzuki's and next to no Honda's that I in all reality would care to own but that doesn't mean they don't make good bikes. So I just list my two favorite brands.

Define best:yes:Fwiw asking such a question on the interweb is no doubt a waste of time as lets face it you can write off 1/2 the answers as bullshit from cunts that wouldnt know one end of a motorcycle from the other, another 1/3rd the the same as no doubt they ride late model Ducatis and truly believe that by writing the cheque you get an understanding of such things and the ability to ride one.Whatevers left confuse the whole notion of motorcycling and buy a cruiser made in America (so they think) and buy some camo pants, just to spend time on the interweb justifying there decision.Somewhat lame all things considered, lets face it theres actually people out there these days that make a living selling there opinion on motorcycles, even more sad theres people that buy there opinion then go and pay out .

Well said, thread question has been done to death over the years and the end result is always the same, pretty much what you said awayatc!
Those that vote on a kb poll do not vote truthfully, they vote what they think is right, which is not always correct, only in the mind of the voter.
As you were.

Eight votes. It's a landslide. Or is that a backside ? Hard to tell with a Honda.
I have some documentation that shows Suzuki as the largest national supplier of retail new motorcycles each year, followed by Honda, and kawasaki. These figures include dirt bikes so perhaps the Kwaka and Honda is inflated a bit by that.
Apparently, and I use that word lightly as it's not my persuasion... Suzuki are the best value purchase into the market for low price sports and cruiser bikes. They also have a strong hold on budget 250cc's with the "Mighty GN125/250's" woohoo.
In saying that, they are riddled with criticism about there quality and corrosion issues. Largely flaking of chrome plating and alloy corrosion. However, riders/ owners are generally happy with the value.
Honda, sadly have deteriorated in their reputation with cruisers, and also with sports bikes in terms of favour and market hold.
Harley Davidson, and Triumph are still gradually increasing their market hold on new sales, Harley has suffered in NZ though with the increase of importing of second hand models from USA and Japan. Sales on new have probably been affected by 15% of there growth as a result.
Another increase in the market is Moto Guzzi, its sales are abizmal when compared to mass produced bikes, however they aren't intended to be a market stake holder, more an endeering brand that states a high reputation to its own trends and style.
Ducati, hasn't really done anything in the sales stakes here, but in Aussie and USA, significant increases have placed demand on the factory, increasing prices due to demand and supply. Again a manufacturer who prides itself on it's own agenda and protocols. In fact that can be said for most of the euro market manufacturers.
The Japanese manufacturers seem to be hell bent on domination to be the biggest supplier of mass produced vehicles, the res of the world wants growth, but more aimed at supplying style, class and something classic, unique and special.
My definition of best, personally is, what floats my boat and is te bike I would dream to ride anywhere and everywhere.
Its all good,

course.. you probably wouldn't want one for everyday use...
and I couldn't ride it 1% of how it should be...
but DAMN are they awesome bikes.
and they are Kiwi made....
designed by a Kiwi etc.
Too much of a horses for courses question.
You wouldn't do the Paris to Dakar on the Britten, you wouldn't race Rossi on a Goldwing. (well you might but I doubt you would do that well)
So I suppose the answer for me is 'my bike' - what ever that might be :innocent:

I ride a Triumph and think it is a fantasic bike (for me) however I voted Honda, as I believe that their products represent the best retail quality/value; which was afterall the question asked.
Whilst I have ridden a few Hondas and would love a CBR (as a toy) they're just not for me.
If I was to change from my Triumph (which is unlikely in the short term), I'd go for a Kwaka ZX14.
Each to their own eh!

question should probably have been a little simpler. eg. "If money was no object, what one production bike would you buy?"
Given that Suzuki is the biggest seller in NZ, it would be logical to think that Suzuki will win most polls that don't stress an unlimited budget. Without a budget though, many people could possibly choose somehing else.

I would hasit a guess that due to budget, Suzuki is considered the best bike taking into account budgets.... simply because it is in fact the best seller and everyone has a budget more or less.

Most of the NCRs I've seen listed cost huge dollars but make about the same horsepower as a Honda Hornet. (Another Italian designed and built bike.) Hard to justify, but if I won Lotto I wouldn't have to justify it
I'm still reminded of the Ducati spokesperson quoted in BIKE speaking of Japanese manufacturers, something very like: "We can't compete on performance, we can't compete on price, and we can't compete with some of them on quality."
Doesn't leave much does it?
So I ride a Ducati and I like it, but I voted Honda.
