Gonna be the first cheeky one....

Why are we waiting nearly 13 hours to race? Also, do they have floodlights at Slipway for racing at 12:00am?

Haha nah sounds good, I will be there. Hopefully will have some time to do carb testing up there too!

LoL.

Veetia and I are keen. See you all then. Might even have another there on my old bucket and he's a bit of a gun rider from what I have seen of him riding on the street.:shit::gob:

Good spotting, you passed the test :innocent:

That test has been running all year, as I have been copying the text each time.

Fixed now.

Yes it is

Now who has a bike to lend WT so we can all laugh at how slow he is?

Last time I lent my bike to a Mair at the Slipway the results (& scratches) were predictable).

Well I am certain to be there now. I have pretty much finished my bike to a level I am satisfied with for now. Still needs a few more hours of work but it is good enough for now.

The new carb makes a massive massive difference but needs a little bit of tweaking to be perfect.

Photos are attached BUT it isn't finished. It needs the Rizla stickers and numbers attached. A bit try hard, but if I can't afford the real deal then I want my own version of a MotoGP bike (just scaled down a bit and mostly just shitter all round).

Yes it does look a lot like his. Didn't want to copy it, but it's what I wanted so I did it. Didn't want to paint it yellow to be different when I wouldn't like it!

Looks good.
Also looks like you have done the same thing as me with the front crash bungs by driling through the small frame stubs and running a bolt through. You may want to drill a couple of holes higher and run a length of 8mm threaded bar all the way through the round tube in front of the engine, with mine I have found that the bolts bend and the short square sections the crash bungs are bolted to start to twist and deform when I crash if the bike goes off track and into the grass.
I need to change mine but haven't got around to it yet.

Yeah I looked at doing that but I decided against it. I figured that threaded bar is reasonably expensive and I wasn't keen on bending it in my first crash! Also it's good to hear that you have done what I have done before. I will reinforce where I have mounted them now. Yeah the bolts do bend when you tighten them up but I know how to fix that.... but I will do it later haha. Cheers!

Let me know how you get on post mod and first crash. I can't see a way to make it work properly.

If anyone has any old FXR front break pads lying around can they please bring them along today. Mine might not last the day or even practice. Cheers Rich.

Indeed, thanks for spending a wet cold afternoon flagging for us Hels and Tex! Nice to see a few spectators also!

I had a good day just mucking about and practicing trying to grow a set of balls and not break so much and go faster around corners, didn't do so well with the right-handers but certainly felt a bit happier with the speed I was carrying around the far corner going anti-clockwise, probably helped that the track had dried out a bit by then, not that the wet seems to bother me as much as some! :Pokey:

I already am astounded........ by the price

Most people here still ride slicks and go pretty quick. The tracks are not to slippery in the wet. It's more my brain that has the issue.

Henk
12th September 2010, 20:43
I got mine for a fairly decent price. If you don't want to go down the wet road grooved slicks are apparently a realistic option. Bigest cost in the spare set of wheels.

Mount Wellinton gets incredibly slippery in the wet, hence the fact that damn near everyone has a second set of wheels.

Thanks heaps to hels and tex, you guys really did a awesome job!
Good to see everyone helping out with the tires, sorry we didn't get there in time to help put them out. Hamish forgot his carb, which he actually ended up really needing!

Wet was fun, but i'm pretty certain, i may have crashed as many times as everyone combined. I think i counted 6. Do i get a prize? =D!

In the old days (Grandad I am...) it didn't matter what rubber you were wearing, Mt W was a slippery sumbitch!!! Karters chain oil is the culprit.

Thanks to the organiser and riders that turned up. Was warm and sunny in the city when I left for the slipway. After a short time it started to rain. Got that misty you could only see about 20 meters infront of you. The mist did clear but not the rain until later in the day. The track was set up for clockwise and I thought it was a good flowing track. When it was anticlockwise it was rubbish no real passing places. When we went to change it someone had a hisse fit. We put it back to how it was. the last race was a freight train.
Was pleased to see no real crashes except Kyle I think he was enjoying himself still. Caleb had his little woopse in the worm up lap. Trublesome spot just there!
See you all next time.

Thanks for the help from Hellen and Tex. You guys did an awesome job!!

I enjoyed my day, been itching to race for ages now. Wasn't the greatest results from me though, but I did my best. Was nice to ride Andrew's bike, I enjoyed the power haha. I agree with Andrew, there was no place to out-brake someone in reverse direction which was a shame. Clockwise was a good track though.

Wellington buckers, I have more to say in the Social Group section.

I love a good hisse fit, specially when its me having a spaz. I liked the track. I saw more overtaking in the last 2 races in A and B than in the other direction. Could have just been the track drying out. whatever. I think if someone wants to change the track after its been setup they should put it to the other riders. No big deal but we did fuck it up for the b grade race that came next. Different track between race and practice sorry guys.
