BoomerWelcome to the site Boomer! Congrats on the new wheels too, the '99 CBR6 is a great machine. I had an '00 model last year and loved it to bits...well, wrote it off to bits actually, but that's another story which is well documented on this site somewhere.

Keep us updated with your progress on the new wheels and if possible upload some photos of it for our viewing pleasure.

Enjoy KB! :niceone:

Scorpion Muffler (cannister only)
Dynojet carburetor jet kit
K&N air filter
15 tooth front sprocket
Rear catseyes clear indicators
Trimmed off rear plastic hanger (hangs under rego plate)
Mongoose remote alarm system
Ventura pack rack system
Various additional stickers
As far as mods you can do, the sky is the limit I suppose ranging from engine & suspension mods to cosmetic ones. Stick around and get involved on KB and your knowledge of these things will rapidly increase...you'll be an experienced noob in no time! :Punk:

hey guys, what a welcome !!

Well, i think i've just fallen in love again. Speedmedic i was coming that way but about 11.15 - 11.30. I dont recall seeing anyone waving at me in an ambulance but then again i was on cloud 9 with a grin from ear to ear. Even though, as you say, it was pissin down.

well, ive has a good 2 hour run on her and im as stoked as a stoked thing. As i say im a bit of a noob rider so i didnt dare open her up... that will come though :)

The mrs is laughing at me now, ive just cleaned and waxed the bike and drooled over it for an hour in the garage..until tomorrow! :D

What's wrong with that??? My flatmate has put a nice, comfy, rocking armchair in the garage so you can sit there of an evening in the companionable glow of the bikes. Much nicer than sitting in front of the idiot box.

Well, i've been over the moon with the bike and troll'ing through this site has helped heaps !!

Last weekend i thought i'd fix the heated grips that weren't working and found the cables/connectors had come totally loose. So i had a play and found the combo that got the grips working :) The next morning i come out and find i've left the ignition on all nite and killed the battery. So off i go and get a new one ( i tried to jump the bike and did but even after 20mins riding the lights and indicators still wouldnt work propery :(

So, over the last week the bike has been 'choking' almost stalling when setting off, lots of revs sort it out but i was concerned... and friday morning hop on the bike to go to work and she chockes and stalls. Umm ok, then i find the battery absolutely deeed.

I left it till today and thought i'd jump her, push her up the drive with the mrs ( she wasnt too happy ) and go to turn around and drop the bike .. FARK !!!!!! FARK !!!! FARK!!!!! scratch the indicatorm the foot peg and break the front break lever.... FARK !!!! ( lucky i have the slidders on her )

So, ive got a battery charger, also bought some dinky indicators and a new break lever. Hopped on teh web to understand which wires are what ( live and ground as they are all different colors ) and also to check the correct wiring combo for the grips.

Fixed the indicators, the grips and the lever and the batterys charging ( i did a quick check to see if teh charge would start her, and it does ) and im wondering if i've fixed the chocking or its a problem else where... we'll see tomorrow. Probably as well to get a service soon and have her looked at properly :)

Well... owning a bike is fun but time consuming too .. but worth it !!!!

* sorry for the long post but i thought i'd let you know the trials and tribulations of a noob on a bike ! :weird:

Welcome. Sounds to me like the heated grips have a short somewhere which explains why your battery goes flat. With a flat battery it will be sucking up so much of the current from your alternator that the coils are not getting quite enough juice (explains low-rev 'choking'). Also, you can't use your bike as a charger - the battery has to have a certain amount of charge to start with. Sounds strange but that is what happens ie the battery will suck current but will not charge up

Well i had the baby serviced today; and the alarm fitted. Michael at Bikepoint is a top bloke.

He changed the front bearings for me as i told him the brakes seemed to be biteing but its still happening and he wondered if it was because the forks had been raised about 17mm; anyone got any ideas ( the front brakes are ok )

The bikes a ripper !!!!! had a good run last weekend upto welsford and then back via Puhoi ( for a beer ) with a mate. Might have seen some of you guys (about 10-15 riders) heading south about 1, 1:30...??

:ride:

ps. mstrs; thanks for the headsup; teh grips had been wired direct and the battery connections were a tad loose; all checked out and shes charging fine now with no more 'chocking' :Punk: cheeers !
