Probably something to do with the stars and stripes on the helmet.

Surely there's something wrong there - is the ZX10 really that slow at higher speeds????

there was a eurofighter/F1/WSB shootout on 5th gear a little while ago. the WSB nailed everything off the line, but once the F1 got traction it was incredible to see how quickly it built speed to over 300km/h. the eurofighter only just beat the F1 at the end of the 1km drag (photo finish). the WSB was a sorry arsed last.....

Nah something went wrong I think.
Anyways that was one sided because once a a turbine spools up then it acts like a fooken huge turbo not alot can beat it.

only took about 15min to load on a 56k
Yeah......... well the biker dident look to happy about something at the end, wounder if the jet wash put him off, mind you he seemed to slow down before it cought him.

Something happened to the bike thats for sure... understandable the jet passing him at that speed (their take off speed is about 200 knots or 360kmh) but for that porsche to accelerate that quickly at that high a speed something definately happened to the bike... ITS A STANDARD 996 TURBO FOR FUCKS SAKE, it aint that fast... can definately understand a F1 car wasting a WSB though...

Oh yeah a jet is a jet - no competition, and a 911T aint no slouch either --- just not that much faster than the bike -- my vote is scared of jet wash and backed off when he heard the plane near him.

Porche does have higher speed by about 20kmph, but i expected jet to get speed a bit quicker than that. The bike must have slowed down to be passed that quickly tho :no: . Anyways nice clip to watch just the same. :niceone:

can't find the link, but shumacher raced a jet in 2003 - in the wet. here's the comparison:
distance = 600m
Eurofighter Typhoon IPA2 – 9,6 s (225,00 km/h)
Ferrari F1 F2003-GA – 9,4 s (229,79 km/h)
distance = 900 m
Eurofighter Typhoon IPA2 – 13,0 s (249,23 km/h)
Ferrari F1 F2003-GA – 13,2 s (245,46 km/h)
distance = 1200 m
Eurofighter Typhoon IPA2 – 14,2 s (304,23 km/h)
Ferrari F1 F2003-GA – 16,7 s (258,68 km/h)

is THAT how a jet engine works. to think i always thought they compressed air, then burned it, expanding it rapidly and ejecting in the direction that they desired the thrust to go!

Wheels or Motor Magazine, can't remember which, had a drag between a few cars, including a Lambo Diablo and a Hayabusa. The 'Busa creamed the lot of them, hitting about 310 vs. the Lambo's 290 at the end of whatever distance it was.
Given that a 10R is about 60 or so kg lighter than the 'Busa with similar power, I'd be highly surprised if that Porsche could get close...even if it did have a few kms higher top speed, it wouldn't have even been in the Kawi's mirrors before it began to catch up...providing that it is indeed standard.
Def a vote for the bike guy backing off...pussy.

It all depends on what they want to suck through the engine that day as well as the force of the pull of gravity on that day which is directionally proportianal to the way the moon pulls itself..... I mean the tides which affect my way of thinking :no:

maybe the jets turbines produced such massive force and wind, it slowed the bike down?
? ok, i am not thinking right... haha
When I watched it I wonderd what the Kwaka rider would do should/when the fighter got in front. The blast thrown off would have been pretty sphincter twitching.

ummm ya driven one? they are fast aye, I have driven a few Porsche's and I have draged the VTR up against a 996 turb, up too 160k yip the bike may have it but from there on and we went well past the 2 hundie mark I couldent pull it in.
Ok now the ZX10 in the vid clip would eat a VTR for breaky but it would still work hard at kepping ahead of the Porsche, there was defnitly a problem with the bike as the car passed him a a wicked speed.

By all means its not a slow car, its fucking fast... But to have that greater speed acceleration at that high speed is not possible with it being a standard car....
Yep ive heard the stories about Vladi doing 250 and a Holden Monaro catching him... Only when upping the speed to 275 did the monaro start to dissapear...
Yeah it all depends on what the distance of the test was. In a real long one the porsche would take the bike i think. Whats the top speed of a zxr these days?? Around the 290 to 300 mark isnt it?? I've seen in mags confirmed 310 out of a porsche turbo. But those last 30 or 40 kms take a long time and distance to achieve so it would all be dependent on the length of the runway.
P.S. Dangerous did you do those tests at a track?? Which one?? :rofl:

7 seconds? That would have to be some serious modification. I crew for an A/Altered car (Grant Findley, he's the man) thats holds the nation e.t. and mph records for its class. Estimated 1700 rwhp, with 13 inch wide slicks, still only manages mid-7 1/4s.
EDIT- Forgot my point. Sure after spending many thousands of dollars on modifications a car will go faster than a bike, but for $20k? or even $40k?

Yup and i still raced you on my push bike:devil2: .....
Anyway.......
I've only felt the jet wash of a 747 at standstill - so that of an actual fighter at speed should be a lot higher right?? No wonder the biker backed off.

HA!!!!! It was on tonite on 5th gear!!! I got it on the dvd recorder, will see how small i can shrink it. Hopefully post it up some time soon :niceone:
ilds say he was afriad of jetwash/blast, i know a 737 taxi'n, the jet wash from that is enough to turn a small plane (not a microlight) round 90Degrees, he was prob also afriad of turbulent airflow from the jet, that would be enough to knock you over.......
but then why does he get angry?

An Evo doing 7 sec 1/4's is not your average cage. Cars can be fast as hell, but for under $100k you'd be hard pressed to buy/build car that can foot it with a bike in a straight line, and still get a warrant and be able to go 'round corners. At the top end of the $ spectrum, cars will be quicker than a bike...but I'm @#@%'n convinced that a 10R would shit on a 996 Turbo...from any speed.

Cars will always be faster then bikes (sorry but it is true).
Take 2 japanese performance manufactuarers - Veilside, and Yoshimura - there vehicles cos relativey the same, but dont expect a Yoshi Busa to beat a standard busa 2 times over - where as veilside, do a google.
The difference between a bike and cars, is while cars are fun, they are just toys - you dont feel fuck all in a car in comparison to a bike, when you ride a bike at 20k, you still can get hurt, so you have that fear.
basically cars are for pussies, you dont fear death, you dont experience the elements, and you drive the way a computer tells you to.
Bikes are like hunting something, its more natural, less restrictive :nono:, and more adrenellin

It's 1/4's are in the 7's not 7s and not sub 7s. Just think we are getting too arrogant if we think as bikers that bikes will always bet cars.
As for turning this in to a car vs bike thread, get real! It's already a bike vs car vs jet thread. Get over yourself.
I love my bike but that does not close my mind to other vehicles and they abilities.
One night at the Night Wars have made me appreciate what effort other vehicle owns have made.

No this is a zx10 vs porsche turbo etc thread, nothing to do with drag cars, they are a complete different subject. Who cares if a massively modded jappa can do a 7, its not able to be driven on the road, like all the other vehicles we are talking about.

Surely there's something wrong there - is the ZX10 really that slow at higher speeds????
They start at 1:23 and the bike seems to slow at 1:46 (assuming the vid is continuous) that gives 23 seconds of full throttle
could it have reached top speed?
Was the rider just pissed off that he had been caught?

How could this have happened? A $20K bike being beaten by a multi million dollar jet fighter? Thats it, trading up...off to Jet Fighters For Less. The whole car vs bike thing, if you spend enough money on anything you can make it go fast, what gets me is that I own a bike (CBR1000RR) that like other current litre bikes would put a MotoGP bike of a few years ago to shame (with riders of equal talent), no production car available to the masses would even come close to a Formula 1 car of a few years ago.
That jet wash must have been some freazy stuff.

To all those that are farting on about the porsche - watch the darn vid and see what happens before bleating on about how fast it is. ZX10 definitely slowed considerably and was MILES ahead of the 911 and jet before that

Any litre sportsbikebike = 6 secs or less.
Porsche = 9.5.
There is NO production car that can equal the bike.
