View Full Version : Reevu helmet. Has anyone got one?

Does anyone know anybody in Auckland region who has a Reevu helmet with the adjustable
mirror. No one in NZ sells them just now, but some one may have imported one, or bought one when they were available.

I would like to eyeball one with view to importing one for myself.

I am not looking for links or info, I am looking for the real thing.

This is the version I am looking for.

I'll try here as no one answered when I posted into general Ravings.

I have posted the question below twice now, but not even a single comment not even a rude one.

So I have decided to change the Title to something more appropriate to KB.
I forgot in my first posts, that this was a social network site not a site dedicated to motorbikes. So a title that might just hint at sex will get more readers than a question on motorbike helmets.

Even if I only get facetious replies, at least I might just get the one person who does have
the answer looking at the post.

What a let down! :crybaby:

If no-one is replying, it's possible no-one has one, or those people that do own one, are not reading KB?

Talk to Hitcher Jeff. He's forever trying to get helmets for his over-proportioned melon.

I suspect that that is the case, they are rare , but I thought I'd give it one last shot.

Even if it was by trickery :)

Well, there must be at least one in NZ since cycletreads obviously had them...

Also found an old google search that indicated BikeSport in Helensville had at some stage had one. http://www.bikesport.co.nz/

Could try those leads?

they spend so much time talking about the removable visor and cheek pads, just like a 50 dollar helmet, and nearly NO time talking about the one thing that makes this helmet unique, i say there is a reason that we havent seen them, because they are bogus

I tried Cycletreads but not Bikesport , so I will try them. Cycletreads say they only got a few liquidized stock sell offs, and did not really stock them

I have been in direct contact with Reevu, who say they are planning setting up dealers in NZ in the next few months, but the retail prices they are suggesting they will sell them at is nearly twice that of ebay or the retail price in the UK.

I plan on buying from ebay but want to see one first if I can, hence my questions.

There are 2 versions. the old one ( supposed to be of poorish quality and no adjustable mirror ). The new one ( reported to be well made and have a good mirror adjustment. )

To be diligent I just wanted to see if anyone had ever tied one.

If the answer is no, it may well turn into me writing a review for KB when I do buy one .

At first I was excited about it.

Tried it on when Cycletreads had them.

Comfort: was not too great, but I'm used to my daily-used Arai RX7, so I might have been a bit biased. The fabric felt like the usual $300-range helmets, while the weight (while being light) feels more like AGV helmets.

Safety feeling: not that inspiring. Gives similar feeling to the $200-$400 range helmets.

The mirror: not that great at all. Not that clear (compared to your usual rear view mirror). Barely noticeable, and not that intuitive to use (maybe I'm just not used to using it). And if you have blindside problem while being on your bike, please by all means do not even try to drive a car. Ever.

I ride a Ducati, with notoriously horrible mirror, and still thinks that for the price the helmet was asking for, I would be better off saving a few hundred extra quids and buy an Arai RX7 instead.

Thanks Marmoot :)

I have been told by reevu that the new version is much better ( helmet quality and mirror visibility ), that is why I am trying to find someone who has one of the new ones. You comments are quite similar to what I have read about the original version ( one without the adjustable mirror ).
This is why I stayed away from it some months back.

I suspect no one in NZ has one of the new versions, so I might have to just bite the bullet and buy one and add my comments to this site.

It's great! I'm ordering a clear rear visor though. I think they fit the factory helmets with the tinted visor to eliminate any liability to Reevu if you are blinded by their mirror from the rear but I also think a clear rear visor will make it much more useful.
