Great photos & documentation of what looks like a good ride.
Have to add that one to the to-do list next time I am down that way.

Great - added to the list of rides to do this summer. Any other Nads interested in doing this as a group?

I'd be keen to do this one again so I'd be a starter Padmei, there is also another similar length track a couple of valleys up that has now been made available to the public. I haven't done this one yet but plan to this summer, doing the two together could make for an awesome ride.

Hoping to get a camping trip on the mainland later this year so definately on the list. MIght need some ideas for a few good rides starting / ending Picton. Not too much road, easy gravel ok, river crossings and gnarly stuff preffered:yes:
Any suggestions on 3 days tough riding and camping from the boat...
That website looks great ADVGD - when will it be "working" so I can search for more and put together a SI trip?

Park the bike, set up camp and tramp for a day or two? There must be other place like that in the region? Travers saddle and the St James Station areas now it may be open to the likes of 'Us' now it is accessible? I would love to explore by bike and tramp etc....

Among many, one option is the one I was referring to earlier, Mailings Pass further up. I haven't done this one, but will definitely be doing it this summer. Like Edward Pass, access to this has recently been opened up, one option is at the end of the track is tramping access round to Lake Guyon and the Guyon DOC Hut. To get in there is normally a 5 hour tramp in from the Tophouse Road side over Fowlers Pass, but with Mailings Pass you get a good ride in, and then an easy 4km tramp into the hut, awesome views, good fishing, lax out in a hut...what more could you ask for. More of an easy tramp than a full on multi-day tramp, but there are plenty of other tracks and options in the area if your legs still need a workout

If you are thinking of planning a trip this summer and you are looking for starters, hit me up, otherwise I'll post the dates I'll be heading up there to see who's keen. :niceone:
