How are the roads after the quake? Any that should be avoided?

BTW I'm not talking about around town.

Summit Rd between the sign of the Kiwi and Gebbies Pass Rd is fine in most places, there is the odd pothole and a few patches of gravel which caused my front wheel to lock up a couple of times though.

As of 11th September, State Highway 75 just outside of Halswell (towards Tai Tapu) has quite a few minor raised humps, that section of road is cleared signed posted to reduce speed to 30km/hr.

The owner of service station at Tai Tapu told me the road between Barry's Bay to Wainui is quite dodgy. Someone might be able to shed some lights on the current condition.

Interested to find out the condition of road to Main Street, Oxford via SH1.

We did an adventure ride over Banks Peninsular yesterday and Barry's bay to Wainui seemed fine as we rode through headed up to the Bossu Rd:yes:

Drove tp Hokitika on Wednesday for work. Road seemed pretty good really, although a bike may pick up some rough spots that I wouldn't have noticed in the car.
As others have mentioned, parts of Tai Tap road you will need to slow. Halswell road on the way out is also not great, but all passable.

Road from Hororata onward to rakaia gorge and inland road has a problem at 2nd bridge out of Hororata - 8 inch step up/off the bridge & it's only got a "men working" sign...

Friend of mine hit it on a BM the other day - lucky not to have square wheels...

Bridge approaches seem to have suffered & should be watched out for.

Considering the "event" of last weekend, all roads in the Canterbury area could/should be considered as having a problem. Every aftershock could cause a problem to roads that previously did not ... that untill "discovered" ... may be an accident waiting to happen.

I might even suggest, roads are not safe ... untill you have seen for yourselves ...

Mid Canterbury/South Canterbury roads OK. Went for a blat this afternoon, Ashvagas to Geraldine to Fairlie to Pleasent Point to Temuka to Ashvagas. Roads were great, blew away some cobwebs and plenty of bikes out there.

Just be prepared to take the odd squiggle in roads, such as telegraph rd, which use to look like this...

 Another tourist  should have seen it 1st thing on the morning of the quake, that was impressive :gob:

Only a few hundred meters around the corner were the best ripple strips that would have put an MX track to shame  and one block towards town was a creater that could swallow a car  and about 6kms due north of there are a couple of pieces of road that look like Sicon had been practicing with a ripper

The NZTA and Christchurch City Council websites have a pretty comprehensive schedule of what's damaged.

....treat it all like a sighting lap....there are the odd changes in places where you may have felt real comfortable, laying it over or keeping it open...got my front into a little crease on the Governors Bay Rd that wasnt there before, big twitch... was a little wake up call....HW75 is cool...
