View Full Version : Karaka Bay / Chocolate Fish Attempted Mono

Hey there team,

I'll probably get flamed for voicing my opinion here, but what the fack. It wouldn't be the first time and I doubt it'll be the last.

I was enjoying a quiet coffee and panini ( Roast Pumpkin... try it, you'll like it ) at the Chocolate Fish cafe in Karaka Bay this avo with Jimbo when some clown on a blue R1 or R6 rolls up and tries to pull a mono outside the cafe. Now I've done some stupid things on bikes, but generally it's out of the way on closed roads or on a race circuit and certainly well away from pedestrians.

And I'm all for people who can pull a good mono doing them in the right place at the right time, but to attempt to pull one outside a very busy cafe with a lot of pedestrian traffic, a large number of children running around, and in this case a young handicapped gentleman attempting to cross the road in a motorised wheelchair, is just bloody ridiculous.

If you're reading this, you should know that the workers at that cafe approached us and it would seem that you have attempted to pull off your stunt a number of times in the last couple of months, and they are waiting for the day they get your rego # so they can call the cops, and good on them too.

You might also like to have a word with White Trash, cause the fella in the wheelchair pulled a better mono than you  :killingme :killingme :killingme

:cold:

Heyyy :niceone: Sorry Mark, didn't realise that was you! Nice to meet you btw (Dave, RED R1 with VTWIN, blue SV1000s).

Just to clarify for those that read too fast, it wasn't me, ok :nono:
I agree whole-heartedly too I might add. When mono's go wrong, the bike tends to tumble in all directions. Just imagine the BAD PR if the bike tumbles onto, and kills a guy in a wheelchair!

That is one busy area, like Mark said, with kids, patrons, and poor waitors who I noticed today have to dodge traffic while carrying multiple drinks on trays! Take it easy Blue R6 / R1 rider.

Hey Mark I think I saw you and Jimbo either arriving or preparing to leave the Roundabout pub at about 4.00pm. Only caught a glance of a red VTR and maybe a blue bike behind it. I was sneeking out for the only dry hour we are getting this long weeekend. The bikes were gone when I returned which was a shame because I was looking forward to a drink if you were still there.
Back to your point- totally agree. Know the spot, absolutely positively stupid place to wheelie. It must be a Yamaha thing because I saw a certain R1 rider (non KBer) wheelie the main street of Martinborough from the Sq. -way too fast with lots of people about, especially children. Shit myself watching half expecting to see someone step out in front to see what the noise was.
Maybe I better shut up now before someone picks on me.

I doubt that. Also telling anyone to talk to WT is questionable - the rest is faultless.

Yea that was us. Bloody nice little pub that, should do very well for itself. I haven't had any snacks there yet, but apparently they're pretty good too. I think I someone suggested a while ago that us locals should get together there for a drink one eveing... sounds like a bloody good idea to me. I'm about to head overseas for a wee holiday, but will be back in country on 13 June so anytime after that would be great.

Bugger I should have swung back and checked who it was. I got the local Tawa KBers together one evening there the week after Sams' funeral. About 10 of us.
Do it again when you return and extend the boundaries to allow outsiders from rougher neighbourhoods.
Why would you go overseas when our weather is about to peak? It's just so nice this weekend.

What, Invite WT and Deano and the likes to our pub? No, not so sure about that... I'd really like to be able to go back there again sometime in the next decade :niceone:

Great weather ain't it... yesterday there was a house opposite us only 30 or 40 metres away, can't see anything out the window right now and we just had to peg our house down so it wouldn't fly away

Ahhh - let 'em go - it's a rainy wet day and it's a testosterone and biorhythm thing.
Back before computers blokes would go to the pub, smack each other and then have a beer afterwards to get it out of their system.

Kids love mince? Pray tell.

do you think so... that would be interesting given that I now know who to come and see if it does end up on it's arse.

and if you have a read of the thread I didn't dob in the other biker... I have no idea who it was other than what sort of bike they were riding. and even if i did know his or her rego I wouldn't have given it to the cafe staff, that's why I came on here and gave them a warning.

and yea, I wank but I guess you'd be too lazy to even do that.

So there's some little person riding a mint looking 99 R1 in red/white down Cambridge Tce, slowing down for the red light opposite work, neck craning towards the shop to see if anyone's watching him. I'm standing out the front thinking "Nice bike".

A local nutter on a Rocket III pulls up next to the Yamashit rider and he's waiting to turn right. Nods exchanged, lights go green and R1 person bunny hops the front wheel a foot off the ground before he's even started to move. Front wheel crashes to earth in time for another right fistfull of throttle to the same effect. Right foot's hanging off the peg as the bike hoons sort of forward, sort of straight in time for the rider to get a semblance of control and attempt to hoist it properly down the road but by then they're out of sight.

Rocket III pulls a u-ey and stops in front of the shop, guy's got tears streaming down his face. I wasn't much better.

Now, what I really want to know is this. Can any Yamahahaha riders actually stunt it up a bit?

Heh - that guy did exactly the same thing when I was sitting at the Chocky fish about 3 weeks ago. I was pretty impressed, but then I realised that he was right by the cafe where people kind of wander across the road aimlessly and so it prob wasn't the best place he could have picked! Not good. He came down pretty quick so I thought he must've figured it was a bit dodgey, but that's no good to hear he's done it there before!

All tongue in cheek fellas, don't sweat it.

Yea, be really good if you could have a look at the suspension for me. I should be around for the next couple of weeks at least. Guess I'll have to go hunting for another thread that tells me when you're leaving for the wet north.
