View Full Version : How should I paint my bike (photos included)

Ok so I have a bit of a dilema.
I am going to paint my bike next weekend. Its a K6 GSXR600. But I am not sure how I should do it? Ideally I like the second photo and think that the custom blue R in the decal ties in really well. However the boomerang style decal under the R is very hard to come by and I am yet to find anywhere that will reproduce them. That would leave it looking similar to photo 1.
Or I could paint it as is and it would look like photo three
I'm fairly limited due to the color of the wheels, but I like them anyway so they won't be changed. Anyone got any other ideas?

PM MSTRS he does custom decals. If he can find a pic, he can make you one.

Paint it like this...

Nah - just kidding...
I don't like three for some reason - either of the other options is OK by me...

I'm quite partial to your option two. :wings: But then again, what would I know. It's a personal thing.

I would probably go race rep if I were doing it. But that's a whole world of options. With the blue of the wheels maybe a Kenny Roberts Jr look could work?

I'm gonna have to go with with Henry Ford on this, "Any colour as long as it's Black!"

even with painting it, it will still look like a Gixer. accept it and move on.

Apart from the sticker, is there any difference between the three paint jobs?

Nah lol, the bike is/was wrecked hence the need to paint. But not sure what the alternatives could be.

Well at least it's an idea :gob: I really don't have a lot in the way of those. . .

oh well, in that case, allow me to assist.
If pink is a bit full on (y'know, sometimes it can be), pink with purple polka dots?
Snot green (so you can get mistaken for a kwaka, hey Toto?), fire engine red, yellow (like think, real yellow).
More seriously, do you want blue and white... you really can have anything you want. Black with a silver fleck is always nice, or just black. You can also multi-layer, like silver/blue then black on top (don't ask me how it works, ask a painter). White, or pearl white is unusual.
I just go with black... its easy

Do different finishes of black, ie satin, matt, gloss, then leave the wheels blue and get lots of blue ano parts.

03-05? MotoGP GSVR colours. If you go Rizla I will hunt you down and burn your bike.

hahaha I always wondered TOTO, how did your bike become green? did you get it as is? or did you paint it?
Or do you have a secrete desire for kawas?

He painted it. Then spent ages denying similarities with kawasakis, until he almost got onto a kawasaki mistaking it for his own bike.
Now he finally accepts what we have been saying all along.

I don't like the third one, looks like a half finished race bike IMHO.
Black with a red trim maybe??
or Pink as Gremlin said.

I hadn't thought of that and I do know someone that does some really cool work, but don't want to make anything to personalised incase I go bankrupt and need to sell haha

Yeah I've had this bike awhile so I'm excited that it will be ready in time for summer

Yeah, I'd probably have to agree with you there to be honest, I think it is made worse by the fact it is white so looks a lot like a blank canvas.
I love Black and Red but couldn't bring myself to paint the rims as they really are my favourite part of the bike.
Pink might have suited my old Honda?;)

Opinion seems to be fairly split and I know at the end of the day it only matters what I think. I spose I am just going to have to make a decision that I am comfortable with...
