Yeah I'm Grafton and its windy as hell right now... in wind a little less than this I do involuntary lane changes at best... don't really want to get a wind assisted knee and head down

if it's like it was down here, the worst will pass over in a few hours, so maybe you can wait it out? but riding in the sort of gales we had was a definite no-no for me personally, way more likely to come off, or get knocked off by a flying letterbox or other debri :sweatdrop

hmmm, yeh not ideal to be at work late, but still better than doing involuntary lane changes imo.

I don't live out your way, I head up SH1 but I was getting battered from the left. Tried to change back to the left lane a couple of times.. Just turned the indicator off and stayed put in my lane.

The way that I did it... Knee's tight on the tank, get as low as you feel comfortable and pin it. Still got pushed around a fair bit but never felt like I was in any bother.

Take GT North or similar instead? Lot more cover and slower speeds etc

After looking at the forecast last night I decided not to take the bike to work today, tempting though it was when it looked fine this morning. I've been over a slightly gusty harbour bridge before but I don't think I'm ready for the winds I got in the car on the way home this afternoon...

yup got home sweet... funny enough te atatu road was way worse that the motorway... but maybe that was because of the lower speeds!
